When I was waking up, I didn't want to use the word cult, I preferred to think it was just another religion.
When I came to the realization of all of the control the religion had over me (which I gave it), that my identity was built on being a member, that questioning the leadership or teachings wasn't possible (although they say it is, you just can't voice it and if your conclusion is different you're plain wrong), and that I would lose every friendship I had and even was at risk of my children shunning me ... I had no question any longer that it was a cult.
The religion Jehovah's Witnesses is a cult.
