There are many many very bad things that could happen to humanity. But these events will have nothing to do with the fulfillment of bible prophesy. They will be just events. If you hang around for 10 or 20 billion years, the fate humanity (if it even exists) will be far different than now.

Prophecy taken from Ezekiel 38 shows this to be in our day:

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.
10 Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Ezekiel tells us that Armageddon will take place "in the latter years" (read "latter days") the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people." Prophetically, this is right on. In no other time has Judah ever been gathered out of many nations except for right now. And never has Israel ever dwelt safely "without walls" and "having neither bars nor gates" and "unwalled villages" except in our day. After World War II, the Jews (Judah) began gathering to Palestine out of many nations -- from both North and South America, Asia, Europe, the nations of Africa and the islands of the sea. How did Ezekiel know that Judah would be "the people that are gathered out of the nations" in the last days?

Ezekiel also identifies the nations that would be against Israel, and they include modern day Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia (all Muslim nations). Also, Islam has vowed to destroy Israel and will do so according to its own eschatology. Again, how did Ezekiel know hundreds of years before Jesus that Judah would be scattered throughout the nations of the earth, then miraculously gathered back to its ancestral homeland? And how did he know they would be threatened by their Islamic nations? Look at the Six Day War, where all the pundits predicted that Israel would be wiped off the map, yet Israel miraculously creamed its enemies and in just days increased its land possessions by several hundred percent!

Atheists and JWs fail to see the incredible fulfillment of prophecy that's going on before their eyes. And it's going to get much worse, then much better.

Peely » I believe the ultimate battle of Armageddon is one of judgment to come upon God’s Chosen kings, and the establishment of his Kingdom with those who have proved their loyalty to Christ – the King of kings – those who have retained their covenant with him in repentance and refinement. Those who choose to reside in darkness (lies), enter the covenant of death under Satan’s “Babylon” (confusion) at the hands of the two Beasts of Revelation. God’s anointed Chosen ones can fall. 1 John 2:19; 2 Thess 2:1-4; 2 Cor 11:1-4; Isa 28:5-15.

When Jesus returns, he will indeed judge the earth. The Old Testament says that it's Yahweh who will come in the clouds with glory, while the New Testament says it will be Jesus. The Old Testament also says Yahweh will judge the earth when he comes, indicating that Yahweh and Jesus are one and the same. Not only do they have the same titles, John tells us that the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son (John 5:22). So yes, God comes with both salvation and judgment.

The prophets make it unmistakably clear that when he comes, he will come to the Jews in Jerusalem. In fact, the scriptures speak of the times of the gentiles ending and the times of the Jews beginning. Zechariah warns the survivors of those nations that came up against the Jews that if they don't mend their enmity with each other and the Jews and come up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, that he will smite them with plague, drought and famine (see Zechariah 14) until they do. It will be tough, but the Muslims will have to repudiate many of their beliefs to conform with the will of the God of Israel. It will not be easy. According to Ezekiel, it will take seven years to bury the dead and to burn the implements of war. The nations of the Antichrist also will have to completely reevaluate their theology.

Judah also will have to reevaluate its theology and accept Jesus as the Messiah, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and the God of Israel. He will pass through the East Gate of the city and into the third temple, which is yet to be built.
