I use to get the biggest chuckle when the elders insisted that when going out on a date that someone older and mature had to go with you to make sure you don't fornicate. How imposing!! I have a friend (did the fade) that was stuck with her brother being the chaperone a couple of times when she was dating her then boyfriend. Talk about crazy!!
Anybody here ever go on chaperoned dates?

I had to have a chaperone. My evil, younger brother was usually it (love you bro). Good for me that he could be bribed. I still laugh when I think back on it.
Thanks for the memories.
Love,
Robyn

I use to be the evil little sister that had to be the chaperone for my older brother. Anyway he would usually go with a buddy and his girlfriend. I would take along my friend. We would sit in the back of the trunk of his car while he and his buddy made out with their girlfriend's inside. A lot of good that did. Our parents thought they we chaperoned. Hehehe.
P.S. My brother is now andelder and thinks he holier than thou. But I know his secrets

Oh does that bring back bad recollections. I remember those chaperoned dates with some of the most boring men I have ever met....

Well once i organizede a date and when I rolled up to pick her up her father wouldnt let her come because the chaperone was a male. The guy was a pioneer for crying out loud.
Another time I had to pay for the other couples meals at the restaraunt as well ( they had no money, I needed a chaperone....) It was an expensive night.

Weirder still is someone I know who is 45, going out with an elder who is 48, and they need a chaperone! The sister was discussing who they should bring along - and they were going on a date in a public place - a restaurant! I almost fell off my seat!

When I first started dating my parents were pretty liberal and didn't bother with the whole Chaperone thing. Well the elders had a chat with them about that and, the next thing I knew - Chaperones were absolutely necessary! What a drag. I felt really bad for the people drug along on these dates. I kept the affection to a minimum because of it. A few years later, my parents got liberal about it again and I felt such relief that I didn't have to beg and plead for a third person to come along.
