O.k, now that I have your attention, things are getting very ugly in here, uglier than usual. It is really starting to bum some people out, including me. So with that in mind, I thought it would be nice to start a thread about something that feels good. What is the nicest thing you have ever done or the nicest thing someone else has done that made you happy to be alive?

I agree that is has gotten a bit intense in here and we need a good bit of the ol fluffies.

    So I'll play....

One of the nicest things I can think of right now is someone starting a happy thread to counter balance the negative ones.

What makes me happy to be alive is what my grand daughter said to the elderly woman in front of us at the check out in the grocery store. At this time she was about four or five years old. She had struck a conversation with this lady, which in its self is unusual, as she is shy. She tells this lady that I'm her Mawmaw and that I'm the bestist Mawmaw in the whole world. I melted right there!!!!!!!!

Since I started this thread I should contribute to it huh? Well a couple of weeks ago I made a bank deposit and when I got home I noticed the cash I had included with the check I deposited was still on my table but it showed on my statement that it HAD been deposited. I thought about the teller getting fired over their mistake and thought about the fact that I could really use that hundred bucks right now but my conscience would not let me keep that money. I took it to the bank and 2 days later received in the mail a thank you card and pens and key chains from the teller. Also the manager sent me his card and said if I ever needed anything t let him know and that they would of never known where the mistake was because it was cash and he said no one ever does what I did. That was worth more than a hundred bucks let me tell you !

P.s: I had people tell me what an idiot I was for returning that money but it really was 'nt mine.

This didn't happen TO me, but it still makes me go all woogey inside whenever I recall it.

I used to work overnights at a front desk in a hotel. The only people up at 5 in the morning for coffee were older people. One morning, well I was setting things up for breakfast, an elderly couple in their late 60's-70's came down for their coffee. The wife was over pouring some, and the husband came over to me at the desk, looked over his shoulder at his wife and said "Isn't my wife cute?" I smiled and said "yeah, you're a pretty lucky guy" and he said "Well of course! I had no idea she would get cuter every year that we were married."

I think the nicest thing I ever did wasn't that great, (besides I do nice things ALL THE TIME, it's hard to pick just one--hahaha!) A guy I was dating at the time was totally stressed because he had a lot of stuff going on at work, and with his family, and a dozen other things were bothering him. I found the mushiest "hang in there" Hallmark tripe card, signed with a message that for one night he would forget about his troubles, and left it at his office for the front desk lady to give it to him.

Then I went to his apartment, cleaned that bastard top to bottom, cooked him a steak and lobster dinner, when he got home we had dinner, drank a bottle of wine, and I gave him an hour long hot oil massage. Then we sat on the couch and watched porn er I mean, a comedy(same differrence at times). The next day he called me and told me he really appreciated what I had done, especially since he got to forget about his stresses for one night.

But the bastard never bought me flowers...no wonder we eventually broke up...lol

A few years ago I needed lung surgery. I had just broken up with my then boyfriend and had been laid off from my job. I was in Dallas with no family around at all to help me. All the members of my Sunday School class took turns visiting me and taking care of me while I was in the hospital. Maybe they just sat there reading while I slept, but it was a huge comfort knowing someone was there and I wasn't alone. One friend who was a nurse at another hospital stayed with me overnight the first two nights, on top of working full-time during the day. She always made sure I was comfortable (had enough morphine in my drip) and got food when I was hungry (jello) and even gave me baths when I was too drugged to take a shower myself. Janna was my saving grace that week as were so many other friends. Even all the children from my children's Sunday School wrote me little construction paper get well cards. They were so cute!

Another thing...a few weeks later I needed to go back for a check-up, but wasn't allowed to drive. My Sunday School teacher announced to the class that someone in the church needed some help getting to the doctor the next day. He never mentioned who it was, but said this person just needed some help, would anyone be willing? A young man offered to help without knowing who it was. It was that young man that to this day, is one of my very best guy friends. Our friendship really started when we went to the hospital that day.

I know there are other things people have done for me, but this is just one of them.

As someone who was in banking for years, I have to commend you for your honesty! Yes, that shortage would have been on that tellers record. Get enough of those, and they're history.

The one nice thing that stand out in my mind is when my purse fell out of my car unbeknownst to me. I was a teenager and hadn't closed my door properly. I kept my purse on the floor of the car, next to the door. So, when I turned a corner, the door flew open and my purse fell out in the middle of the street. I didn't realize what happened until I got home. I was so upset. I went back to where it happened, but nothing was there. So, I resigned myself to having to replace everything.

That evening the phone rings. A couple that had been visiting the area picked up my purse. They then mailed my purse and it's entire contents to me.
