i have a long time interest in china -- and continual amazement at the similarities between the way the WTS presents it's propaganda and the way theat the chinese communists do it......

last sunday, in beijing, a fire in an internet cafe killed 24 people - there was a swift response from the "leadership" -- all 2200 internet cafes in beijing were closed as a result.

Just like politicians in the west, this was clearly a knee-jerk response by beijing leaders, as they tried to make sure that they could not be blamed for poor supervision of the growth of these places.

BUT the really interesting thing, is the way that the state owned media jumped on the bandwagon and the language they used....

"Don't let the internet bars destroy kids" - Headline in the People's Daily.

A story about the "bad" affects of internet cafes, said:

"The web games were like a drug tormenting the child's soul"

"After becoming obsessed ... (with) Internet bars, his grades plunged, his health drastically declined and his spirits were dulled. He became an ill-tempered freak, a zombie."

how come all the "control freaks" talk the same talk???

    singsongboi,

Compare the WT with Chinese Communists?

Why would you dare insult the Chinese Communists by asking for such a comparison?

The Chinese Communists don't believe some God is going to kill 6 BILLION people who don't buy their nonsense. Dubs do.

The only other difference I see is that the leaders of the Chinese Communist party can kill anyone who doesn't believe their nonsense and says so. The Watchtower Criminals only pray for such power and long for the day they will have it.

    Hey singsongboi,

Check out Alexander Solzhenitsyn's the Gulag Archipelago. The author went to great lengths to compile statistics on the people who were trampled by the Soviet regime, especially under Stalin. It's a lot of information to digest, but you will be saddened when you grasp the significance. When millions of people disappear, that's unfortunate. When a few survive to tell stories, the tragedy is palpable.

    I sure cried at times.

Keep sharing info on China. I'll see about posting some stuff from Solzhenitsyn.

LOL - farkel -- yeah! guess these days the chinese leadership want the 6 billion alive to buy their products....

cellomould.... thanx - always meant to read the gulag archipelago -- you have spurred me to do something about that..

The Chinese Communist analogy is a good one - the Watchtower leadership

is quietly moving towards mainstreaming while cracking down on dissidents.

Result: pressures on their corrupt rule are reduced while they retain power.

Excellent comparison, Singsongboi! I would not be surprised if the party leadership had the fire set, so they could have reason to close the shops and condemn such things. Thinking about this, does not 2,200 Internet Shops in one city tell us something? People want information, fun, and to reach out to the rest of the world, in spite of governments like China, and religions like the Watchtower.

Did you hear about Chairman Maos "100 flowers" campaign?

He declared, "let 100 flowers of dissent bloom" and called for those who disagreed with the system to voice their opinions. Dissidents and previously hidden apostates appeared from everywhere voicing their grievances with the system. Mao smiled beningly until they had all revealed them selves......

Then he had them all arrested and sent to Thought Reform school.

    Another Mao story.:

He turned to two of his leaders and said.

"How do you make a cat eat pepper"? (He was refering to releasing new policies that would be unpopular)One leader said, "Mix it in with the cats food". Mao screwed up his face, "Too deceptive", said Mao.

The other leader said, "put the pepper on a stick and ram it down the cats throat". Mao threw his hands up in horror. "Too brutal" said Mao.

"No gentlemen" said Mao " you smear the pepper on the cats asshole, when it starts to burn, the cat will be PLEASED to eat it".

    Damn clever man that Mao.

Ss, you absolutely MUST read "Life and Death in Shanghai" by Niem Cheng. It's a true story and you don't get too far into it before the comparisons to the WTS becomes startling. I gave it to my wavering jw father to read and he made the connection without any prompting from me. He looked up from the book and said "this is like the Organisation". I had been planning to ask him but he got there first. It's about the cultural revolution when the Chinese were much more out of control than they are now. Want to borrow my copy?

refiners ... eek ... old mao had a few things to say didn't he ?

Some comrades in the army have become arrogant and high-handed in their behaviour towards the soldiers, the people, the government and the Party, always blaming the comrades doing local work but never themselves, always seeing their own achievements but never their own shortcomings, and always welcoming flattery but never criticism.... the army must endeavour to eradicate these faults.

"Get Organized!" (November 29, 1943), Selected Works, Vol. III, p. 159.*

this is all too freaky for me ... was it mao who wrote the 'organised' book then huh ?

Lest it's forgotten: Read, or re-read Orwell's novel 1984. The similarity of WTS policy is glaring. In real life Blair, H.G.Wells, Huxley, Webb and others were socialists. Their works reveal that their brand of socialism was communism. In his later years, Sydney Webb fawned over the Bolshevick style of socialism. Fascism is another form of socialism that's sweeping the western world. Large, wealhy corporations control governments, economies and social agendas. The WTS is a large and wealthy fascist corporation running a socialist agenda with political and banker links.

    Regards, Spaz
