im recalling a time when i sat and circled words in a watchtower article, indicating strongly the fact that it is in fact the writters opinion.

however just the suggestion in the sentence these words are ignored.

    for example

    it is our understanding

we believe this to be the case

    we can conclude that

    evidentally,

    it is suggested ,

we should [can be] be confident [confident, not meaning totally in agreement]

    possibly,

    and similar phrases.

now, has that always been the case and we missed it all these years ?

is it that we took every written word for fact, when the 'out' for us was glaring us in the face?

WEASEL WORDS................................................equivocation taken to an art form. It started with Charles Taze Russell and continues to this day.

The legal definition used for those phrases is "weasel words."

Followed up always by an article on "obey", "we are God's channel of communication", "dont' run ahead of the Organization", and the catchall, "avoid independent thinking."

Weasel words: Yep, they've always been there. Once you start to notice them, you see them everywhere in WT literature. Then you wonder why you never noticed them before!

Everything in the WT litteratrash is carefully worded. It's in the talks where elders, COs, DOs, and the GB have really put the lies out there. And that's why they don't want "the friends" to record the talks.

"Our members are free to leave if they so desire" (omitting that they will not be able to take their families with them)

The funny thing is that they continue to claim Jehovah is not a legalistic or dogmatic God. That people are free to choose to worship him or not. Consider the following paragraph where they use "weasel words" to justify their mistakes. Is there a bigger exampe of blame put on the holy spirit?. WT 2002 Dec 1, page 17, par 17-18. Bolds mine

The Ethiopian eunuch was a convert to Judaism. He was a sincere believer in God, and he studied the Scriptures. Traveling in his chariot, he was reading the text of Isaiah when Philip ran alongside him and asked: “Do you actually know what you are reading?” How did the eunuch answer? “‘Really, how could I ever do so, unless someone guided me?’ And he entreated Philip to get on and sit down with him.” Then Philip, directed by holy spirit, helped the eunuch to understand the prophecy of Isaiah. (Acts 8:27-35) What does this illustrate? That our private reading of the Bible is not enough. Jehovah, by his spirit, uses the faithful and discreet slave class to help us to understand his Word at the right time. How is this done?—Matthew 24:45-47; Luke 12:42.

18 Although the slave class is defined as “faithful and discreet,” Jesus did not say that it would be infallible. This group of faithful anointed brothers still consists of imperfect Christians. Even with the best of intentions, they can be mistaken, as such men sometimes were in the first century. (Acts 10:9-15; Galatians 2:8, 11-14) However, their motive is pure, and Jehovah is using them to supply us with Bible study aids to build up our faith in God’s Word and promises. The basic provision for personal study that the slave has given us is the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. It is now available, in whole or in part, in 42 languages, and 114 million copies in several editions have been printed. How can we use it effectively in our personal study?—2 Timothy 3:14-17.

All of OP's phases in JW world mean this = You must obey and follow these speculations of ours as fact and as coming from the mouth of God himself or you will be dfed for apostacy, shunned, and die! ALSO if any of these prove to be wrong, it's your fault for looking too deeply into it, we are imperfect and never said it was a certain thing!
