Based upon descriptions in the bible and what is known scientifically so far, what would God actually be?

Lightning comes out of the throne. No man may see and live. Other descriptions have involved bright light, fire, etc.

He would be a being of pure energy. An intelligent being out of energy.

Can there be life out of energy? Our life and thoughts are all electrical and energy based. The lower the electrical hz in our brains, the less conscious we are. The higher, the more alert we are.

Since energy can not be created nor destroyed but changed from one form to another it would make sense that he used or converted some of his own energy for all things to exist. It would explain why he is eternal. If he is a part of everything that would explain how he would know everything as well.

We haven't seen with our own eyes intelligent life made completely out of energy and no organic matter but does that mean it's impossible?

Wat kind of energy? What does that mean? How does energy organize thoughts? Is that what spirit is made of, pure energy? Remember, energy doesn't necessarily = electricity. If God is pure electrical energy, then (s)he cannot be omniscient and omnipotent.

The Egyptians worshipped a god that was pure energy- the sun god Aten- this is a hymn written about him by Pharaoh Akhenaten:

You shine out in beauty on the horizon of heaven,
O living disc, the beginning of life.
When you have appeared on the eastern horizon,
you have filled every land with your perfection.
When you set on the western horizon,
the earth lies in darkness as in death.
    The earth lies in silence,
for the one who created it has gone to rest on his horizon.
Then the earth becomes bright: you have arisen on the horizon.
As solar disc, you shine by day.
Men awaken and stand on their feet.
Their arms are bent in worship, because you appear. The whole land goes to work.
All beasts are satisfied with their pasture, the trees and plants become green.
The birds flutter in their nests,
raising their wings in worship before your spirit. The ships sail upstream and down.
The fish in the river dart before your face. You make the seed grow in women,
    make fluid into mankind.
    How manifold are your works!
They are hidden from the face of man,
0 sole God, apart from whom there is no other. You have made people for yourself,
the Lord of all of them,
    wearying himself with them,
the Lord of the whole land, rising for them. You are in my heart...

It is believed to be the inspiration for Psalms 104...

...so its true- there is nothing new under the sun... lol

God/Gods are reflection of human ignorance. Gods never exceed our knowledge and always reflect our culture.

"Today secular philosophers call that kind of divine invocation God of the gaps—which comes in handy, because there has never been a shortage of gaps in people's knowledge." - NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON

One aspect of this question has to do with time and size, and in the scriptures and astronomy, the two are interchangebly llinked.

lightyears, parsecs is a measure of DISTANCE expressed in travel THROUGH time (duration) NT: "--who can add a CUBIT [distance] to his life[span,duration]?--"

have scientists used expressions that indicate the existence of eternal, stationary time through which we, the material world MOVES? read Krauss, Penrose, gogle it. The book of James has words to the effect that god does NOT MOVE through time, and Chronicles that the Universe [at least at the time of the temple inauguration] had not expanded to be LARGER than god.

from that we could conclude that if there is a creator, he is both larger and older than the universe, even the cosmos,-- and its moving spacetime.

energy can have many forms, how about POTENTIAL energy, which could be the POSITION in the field of gravity, in the the spacewarp of a body stopping at the heights in the swing of a pendulum?

could information exist in the the pre-big bang non-material domain? It would be plausible if the speculation into the unstable fluctuation of the vaccuum energy can be believed.

The elephant in the room is the work that we live in.-- work= energy through distance/time. work that did not always exist.

two lucky shots on the big question where the 'word' and science mesh.

I don’t think that an `infinity` can really have a scientific description myself.

There is no scientific description of the 'supernatural' by definition science cannot descibe or explain something beyond nature.

Your title is wrong. "What would be a scientific description/explanation of what THE God OF THE BIBLE is?"

It is the utmost of conceit for Christians to dismiss non-Bible beliefs in the gods and focus on theirs as the established "God."
The Bible has been proven wrong in many aspects so it's god would be dismissed along with tribal gods.

If such a god existed, he would know how to reveal himself to those who want to scientifically understand him.

    What @Caedes wrote.

The problem becomes apparent when you try to invoke the same kind of thinking to explain the properties of Odin's throne in Asgaard; the nature of his spear, or how to explain the number of legs on his horse. Basically:
    - Do you accept all descriptions of the deity in question as equally true?
    - If not, what's the basis for accepting a description?
    - What basis do you have for believing in any such description outside of the canonical stories of the religion in question?

In short, a description of energy behaving unlike the way in which we're used to see energy behaving should first and foremost be viewed with some suspicion, especially if it was written down long before people were aware of how energy does behave.

In my opinion, you should treat such description like you would stories of the sun standing still in the sky, or of seas of water above the skies: First sit down and apply what we do know today to this information and see if it is plausible in any way. If it is, go right ahead and speculate on possible causes - it might be fun, and it isn't likely to hurt anyone.
But if the story simply is implausible enough, speculations on how it could work if it was true are pretty pointless.

By the way, what is known scientifically is absolutely nothing. There is no credible source of actual knowledge about any revealing of an actual "God."
