Why Is Alcoholism Deeply Embeded In JW Culture?

We get plenty of Company Men passing through our Circuit, often filled with misinformation and lugging around a suitcase of guilt, they bring more guilt to the weak while praising the braggart Pioneers and slapping the "righteous over much" Elders. Why are the wrong people getting praise in this distorted Community? I know for a fact many of the Elders I served with have issues with Alcoholism, when "Brother Guilt" brought his Emotional Hurricane through our Circuit, I had the chance to eat and help pay for his "Seven Shots of Tequila", both him and his wife were not immune to over-indulgences. This same guy who is speaking about "Spiritual Cleanliness" had a hang-over so we had to do RVs on Friday Morning (Thursday he got shit-faced).

Why are JW Elders impressed with a man who can drink a shit-load of Tequila? Two JWs who have close ties with a Wine making facility and their two friends (Four Elders Total) rejoiced the Circuit Overseer could keep up their their pickled livers. Why are Jehovah's Witnesses more focused on being Spiritual Drunks than being good citizens and kind people? Why is there a deep correlation to drinking, anti-anxiety medications and antidepressants and being a Company-Backed Publisher? I don't understand why getting drunk and over-eating are not sins but Masturbation is? I wish the wheels would fall quicker off their Spiritual Charriot or they would get a DUI so all the World can see the Lie!

gotta drink to handle the troof?

on a more serious thought...i'm reminded of an interesting quote from a book about corruption in washington dc, how at the end of the day, when there's a buck to be made...politics gets tossed aside. the quote was from a democratic strategist who had a lobbying firm with a republican strategist. he said..."he got the joke...we're all patriots"

ie, no matter how bitter the fighting gets and the socialist, fascist name calling on tv they all know they're all "patriots"

and i'd imagine despite the bs they sling, the elders..welll, the company men passing through all get the joke

Look at their father who gave them the name, "Jehovah's Witnesses" and you'll understand the phrase "Like father, like son."

He's not referred to as 'Booze' Rutherford for nothing.

There was an elder (and past missionary) who was df for drinking. That is the only case I was aware of where there was punishment.

I have seen the same stories in the congregation with alcohol. But how else can the r&f cope with life?

Most healthy coping mechanisms are excluded from jw culture. Drinking is fine.

Add an extremely depressing and stressful lifestyle with no hope of getting out of it in eternity.

Drinking does wonders for cognitive dissonance.
