Nepotism sure, but one thing that I know for a fact is that Holy Spirit plays absolutely no role. I know because I was re-appointed after moving back in 2006....4 years after joining this forum. lol.. I guess GOD missed that one.

There is such a thing as "spiritual" nepotism, sponsoring men you have studied with.

Saw that many times, just did not know what to call it. Good term.

in the 30 years I was in after baptism I was never appointed...but I have seen whole family members (male of course) appointed in quick succession...usually alwasy done to 'entrap' youngsters who were on the verge of eyeing higher/further education....and most definitely nepotism...

It always seemed to be just a "good ol' boys club" to me.

Where I'm from, there were always about 8 congregations in the city. There were very few new elders appointed in over 35 years. New elders appointed were usually ones who moved in and we're already elders, or children of elders were appointed to positions.
