    slimboyfat:

The parody of the NWT on anorther thread presumably could not legally be done using the new font.

It would probably be quite difficult for parodyists to get their hands on the proprietary font files anyway. But for the purpose of parodies, a similar typeface is more than adequate. Having new fonts won't do anything to prevent parodies.

And lets not forget that whenever a new highlight piece of literature is introduced, the JWS eat it up like hot buttered popcorn.

So the GB ( Executive Directors) know that they have instant and rapid sales such as a new re-vised bible.

The Watchtower publishing house is really going through some modernization in their commercializing ventures.

Jeffro are you hard of understanding? I did not say it would stop parodies. But presumably such a parody could not be done legally using the new font, if it has been copyrighted. Much of the power of the parody on the other thread lies in the use of the same font as the NWT.

Why did they write a new bible?

The WBT$ already got away with it Once..Why not Twice?!..

The 3rd Bible the WBT$ writes, will be anything they want..

    ...................................................................................

The 8 WBT$ GB Rock Star Popes were all born in Bethlehem..

They were all nailed to a stake..They were all resurrected..

They are all the Sons of God..

They began their Reign in 1914..Ect..ect..ect..

They were duped into buying 10,000 hectares of gray vinyl, and after prayerful consideration said, "I know what the fuck we'll do - we'll use it for BIBLE covers!"

To all my critics they pointed out some of the hard to read and understand ones (BTW they also failed to mention many other translations used in other churches have fixed those problems already with scholarly help) Not denying there was other reasons like removing brakets on words they know they implanted. As far as copyrighting they don't make money on it. Also no one outside of the org would ever use the thing even revised it is horribly translated and has admittly not been touched by a scholar in translation. So I don't really see it as a primary motive.

You're just further demonstrating your own ignorance. The existing parodies don't use the same font either. For example, look at the "2" - the NWT character has a distinct loop at the top of the 2 absent from the parody. Look at the "P" - the old NWT character is wider relative to its height. The loop at the base of the "t" is more distinct in the NWT font. The extension at the top of the "g" is also distinctly different. They're already different fonts.

Parodies will not lose their power on the basis that characters are very slightly different.

The covers are gray. Surely this is God's Organization!

A grey cover... brilliant idea! Who ever said there's no grey areas in the Bible?!

    Oh... that's right, they did:

    *** w77 12/1 p. 716 par. 20 Do All Things with a Good Conscience ***
The individual involved in these “gray areas” should look to the Bible and Bible aids. If he is still not clear on a decision, he may consult elders or others who can help him to see what the Bible says, but he should not let others make his decision for him.
