    Good points, Prof.

A few months ago, a poster here (can't recall who) mentioned Article 18 of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and it was a moment for me. Beforehand, I thought the WT's identifications of the scarlet-colored wild beast and BTG were very flawed anyway (even within the Bible-believing paradigm) and hadn't given it much more thought. Going against their own Declaration in order to destroy 'false' religion further hit home just how wacky the interpretation is. You make another excellent observation in that the UN member countries/states would, in effect, be attacking themselves, their own people and their own religious freedoms. Illogical.

Here is another point you might want to consider. The scripture reads when the Disgusting Thing stands in the Holy Place. If false religion is the WT interruption of the Holy Place we have a problem. There is nothing in scripture that is called Holy that would be used to describe something that is appalling to the Lord. Everything about this interruption falls short when also attached to the generation that would not pass away, with those seeing the start of all this in 1914.
