Have not The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses made errors in their teachings?

The Governing Body Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

The Scriptures provide time elements related to Christ’s presence, and the Governing Body Jehovah’s Witnesses have studied these with keen interest. (Luke 21:24; Dan. 4:10-17) Jesus also described a many-featured sign that would tie in with the fulfillment of time prophecies to identify the generation that would live to see the end of Satan’s wicked system of things. (Luke 21:7-36) The Governing Body Jehovah’s Witnesses have pointed to evidence in fulfillment of this sign. It is true that the the Governing Body Witnesses have made mistakes in their understanding of what would occur at the end of certain time periods, but they have not made the mistake of losing faith or ceasing to be watchful as to fulfillment of Jehovah’s purposes. They have continued to keep to the fore in their thinking the counsel given by Jesus: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”—Matt. 24:42.

Matters on which corrections of viewpoint have been needed have been relatively minor when compared with the vital Bible truths that they have discerned and publicized. Among these are the following: Jehovah is the only true God. Jesus Christ is not part of a Trinitarian godhead but is the only-begotten Son of God. Redemption from sin is possible only through faith in Christ’s ransom sacrifice. The holy spirit is not a person but is Jehovah’s active force, and its fruitage must be evident in the lives of true worshipers. The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection. God’s permission of wickedness has been because of the issue of universal sovereignty. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Since 1914 we have been living in the last days of the global wicked system of things. Only 144,000 faithful Christians will be kings and priests with Christ in heaven, whereas the rest of obedient mankind will receive eternal life on a paradise earth

Fixed that for you - Jehovahs Witnesses are not allowed to point to anything, claim anything, have wrong expectations, point to evidence or make mistakes.

They can "listen, obey and be blessed"

The Governing Body on the other hand can make all the claims they like - should it prove to be fresh bullshit then suddenly there is a transubstantiation of Catholic proportions...

    *sigh*

I've said this before and I will say it again. If the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is not a false prophet, neither is Harold Camping.

1.Have these truly uplifted people morally?

2.Are those who adhere to these teachings outstanding in their communities because of their honesty?

3.Is their family life beneficially influenced by applying these teachings?

4.Jesus said that his disciples would be readily identified because of having love among themselves. (John 13:35) Is this quality outstanding among Jehovah’s Witnesses?

What do questions 1), 2), 3), and 4) have to do with answering the question as to whether Jehovah's Witnesses are False Prophets?

Those questions are with respect to a different topic completely!~~~~ VM44

unintended consequences (sometimes unanticipated consequences or unforeseen consequences) are outcomes that are not the ones intended by a purposeful action.

I think my life was probably better because my mother and father became Jehovah's Witnessees but i don't think that has anything to do with false prophets or not false prophets.

Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

    Luke 19; 11

While they were listening to these things he spoke in addition an illustration, because he was near Jerusalem and they were imagining that the kingdom of God was going to display itself instantly.

    Acts 1 :6

When, now, they had assembled, they went asking him: “Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

They just love using these verses to "prove" that the apostles taught wrong things too, but do they show that? In Luke , they were not yet apostles , just disciples and there was a lot still to learn and to experience as the events later showed The Acts scripture is a question to Jesus , not a prediction. It happened before they got H/S at Pentecost. It merely shows that they did not know, any more than they do today. In fact whenever the later writings of Paul and Peter talk about such things, they warn against speculation . They were right. Their teaching was correct, not like the shifting sands of WT writing that requires regular updating to correct past errors.

Oh, SNAP! They are asking all the wrong questions. I should have caught that.

It reminds me of how an entire bureacracy was built based on a false premise. Oldies, to you remember the Communist threat? Nuclear annihalation? Personal bomb shelters? Those imagined threats built a new profession and a new bureaucracy; Emergency Preparadeness. Of course, the terrors have changed. We worry more about pandemics, earthquakes, killer bees, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods.

The Emergency Preparadeness folks could rightly say that a Good Thing came out of all that ill-placed panic.

But we have a whole bunch of useless and outdated bomb shelters, though. What a whole lot of energy, fears, wasted.

One could say the same about the urgency put in to the Life Saving Work of the Jehovah's Witnesses. What a whole lot of energy, fears, wasted. Lives wasted, really.

Of course 'minor' and 'vital' are defined by the watchtower society...

Really every current doctrine is 'vital' because you can get disfellowshipped for disagreeing with any one of them, not just those listed in the Reasoning Book.

But, of course, if you disagree with any of the false teachings (no matter how "minor") while they are still current, you can be disfellowshipped -- with supposedly eternal repercussions. The Watch Tower Society claims that this is a matter of life and death.

    "Minor"?
