The Governing body has been the board of directors of the WTS since 1919. The ones that went to prison in Atlanta.

Then in 1970 that was expanded beyond the BoD to be a separate entity but still on the BOD. Then in 2000 they resigned from the Bod to be an entirely separate entity from the corporation.

I'm not sure what your issue with this is. The Board of Directors - Governing body has always been the FDS. However they just were never so bold as to say that, so they, in the past, felt it safer to say that they were the representatives or moutpiece of the FDS. It has the same effect none the less. The reality is that there is no anointed other than the GB. None that matter. People throw around that word 'anointed' but it does not mean anything.

Who put the Board of Director members in power, was it Jesus or an 'old boys' club?

    *** yb74 p. 258 The Governing Body ***

On October 2 [1973] the members of the board of directors met for the purpose of electing officers for the ensuing year.

Who got to vote in the early days?

    *** jv chap. 15 p. 228 Development of the Organization Structure ***

The Society’s charter set out [in 1942] a shareholder arrangement in which each aggregate contribution of $10 (U.S.) entitled the contributor to a vote in connection with selection of members of the board of directors and officers of the Society.

Why was CT Russell (president of the Board of Directors) called the FDS even though he died before Jesus put the 1919 arrangement into effect?

    *** The Finished Mystery (1917) p.5 ***

"that wise and faithful servant" of the Lord -CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL

What role did the Board of Directors have, under Russell and Rutherford?

    *** yb75 p. 90 Part 1—United States of America ***

Throughout his entire administration as the Society’s president, Brother Russell, along with the vice-president and secretary-treasurer, had made decisions about new publications. As a group, the board of directors had not been consulted. Rutherford followed the same policy.

In 1971 when the new light about the GB was being explained at DC's all around the world, what was said?

    *** w71 12/15 p. 762 A Governing Body as Different from a Legal Corporation ***

"Nineteen hundred years ago, the “faithful and discreet slave” class with its governing body functioned without a legal corporation chartered by Caesar, and it did so—successfully, magnificently."

When did the GB arrangement first get mentioned?

    *** w71 12/15 p. 757 A Governing Body as Different from a Legal Corporation ***

According to the apostolic example of the first century C.E., these dedicated, baptized Christians known today as Jehovah’s witnesses have a governing body, as specifically noted from the year 1944 onward.

Prior to 1971, was there a difference between the GB and the Board?

    *** yb70 p. 65 1970 Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses ***

So really the governing body of Jehovah’s witnesses is the board of directors of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania

After 1971, was there a difference between the GB and the Board?

    *** w71 12/15 p. 759 A Governing Body as Different from a Legal Corporation ***

So it is today: the governing body of the “faithful and discreet slave” class includes more than the seven anointed Christians who are on the Board of Directors of the Society.

Splash said " in 1919 Jesus appoints a FDS to feed the household.... Still future, Jesus inspects the FDS. If they have been faithful etc, Jesus appoints the FDS over all his belongings."

So "if" is the operative word here: What "if", on that future day, as Daniel would say "they are weighed in the balances and found wanting"?? Or is their approval a foregone conclusion?

Exactly Room 215 , let us assume for the sheer stupid fun of it that Jesus was dumb enough to appoint Ratherfraud and gang in 1919, what if, somewhere down the line they have turned in to the Evil Slave ? After all the GB over recent years has been beating the rest of the household a lot !

And has been "eating with those who are drunk" (U.N membership)

Does the parable urge that the rest of the household "Listen to and Obey" the Evil Slave ? ( that concept, of obedience, isn't in the parable either)

    @Room 215:

Jesus explains what happens if the slave fails the test:

(Mt 25:28-30) “‘Therefore TAKE away the talent from him and give it to him that has the ten talents. For to everyone that has, more will be given and he will have abundance; but as for him that does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. And throw the good-for-nothing slave out into the darkness outside. There is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be.’

The GB however thinks (at least according to old light) that this is not going to happen:

    *** w04 3/1 p. 16 ‘The Faithful Slave’ Passes the Test! ***

It would not be reasonable to say that the rewarding of the faithful slave, the judgment of the foolish virgins, and the judgment of the sluggish slave, who hid the Master’s talent, will take place when Jesus “comes” at the great tribulation. That would imply that many of the anointed will be found unfaithful at that time and will thus have to be replaced. However, Revelation 7:3 indicates that all of Christ’s anointed slaves will have been permanently “sealed” by that time.

But since they have recently proclaimed that it IS now reasonable to say the rewarding is future, their reference to Rev 7:3 can no longer be valid, and 'many' anointed could be found unfaithful.

    Are you keeping up?
