I am sure that the Elders in this case will have sought advice from HQ North Korea, sorry I mean Brooklyn or wherever they are now. That is if Zed ever did anything about this.
And the advice would be to find something that showed that Zed accepted the membership of the Organization as valid. Even something as mundane as volunteering to look after a Contribution box at a Convention can be used to show that you considered your "dedication" to be valid, the fact of dunking or not will not matter to them.
They hate to undo a DFing in any circumstances, it makes it look as though the Holy Spirit is not directing them !
