WILLIAM MILLER (1782-1849) - FREEMASON & BAPTIST...

"William Miller (prédicateur) - (...) En 1803, Miller se maria à Lucy Smith et alla habiter dans la ville voisine de Poultney, où il devint un fermier prospère. Ce changement de résidence le mit en contact avec l'intelligentia déiste de la ville. Collaborateur de N. Barbour :
John Paton célébra l’union de Charles et Maria Russell en mars 1879, cet événement parut dans la Gazette de Pittsburgh du 14 mars 1879.
J.H. Paton est l’auteur du livre « Day Dawn » publié en 1880 (Février 1880; « Zion’s watch tower and herald of christ’s presence »; p.8); la revue édité par C.T. Russell fera l’éloge et la promotion de ce livre jusqu’à la date de Décembre 1883 (p.2).
Il fut entre Juillet 1879 et Août 1881 l’un des collaborateurs réguliers de Charles Taze Russell dans la revue « Zion’s watch tower and herald of christ’s presence ».
Lien avec la franc-maçonnerie: Au moins en 1882, John H. Paton a été membre de la petite loge maçonnique de Almont (Etats-Unis). John Corbin Sunderlin (1835-1911) :
J.C. Sunderlin fut entre Janvier 1881 et Février 1884 l’un des collaborateurs réguliers de Charles Taze Russell dans la revue « Zion’s watch tower and herald of christ’s presence ».
« En 1881, J. Sunderlin et J. Bender, deux collaborateurs de Charles Russell qui dirigeait alors les activités de la Société Watch Tower, sont arrivés des États-Unis (…). L’un commençant en Écosse, l’autre en Angleterre, ils ont diffusé une brochure passionnante intitulée Nourriture pour les chrétiens réfléchis. (Annuaire 2000, p.69)
Lien avec la franc-maçonnerie: Il a été membre de la grande armée de la république (G.A.R.) et de l’IOOF (Indépendant order of odd fellows). Il a rejoint l’ordre maçonnique, et est répertorié comme un membre. (Date, après la guerre: 1865 ?) (Son appartenance à la libre et acceptés maçons est vérifiée par la procédure de la grande loge libre et acceptés maçons de l’état de New York, Mai 1912, JJ Little & Ives, New York, 1912, page 169)

La « Psi Upsilon fraternity » est une société fraternelle crée par quatre (ou 5) fondateurs, dont la plupart étaient francs-maçons.

Fascinating, good research. Eden One has a good point also, Russell seemed to cheap to give money to a fraternity but would gladly sponge off its popularity.

My grandparents were good friends with Woodworth and Van Amburgh.

I love this thread. Thanks MIZPAH. You should write an actual book about all this. It's hard to say if Russel was just trying to find common ground and getting a deal on lodge rental, or if he was really involved with the Masons. The symbolism in the old books is uncanny for sure. To me this just shows the folly of organized religion. It just takes on a life of it's own. It becomes a runaway train, when Russel died Rutherford took over, then Knorr, now the current GB. They can't stop it even though they have taken acouple aternate tracks. Eventually it will either run out of steam, or run out of track! The real question for all of us is this, are we going to bail out and take a couple lumps, or stay on and see what happens. It will come to an end. Any system that is unsustainable will end. I think we are all witnessing the desperation of the WTBTS. They are shoveling the coal like mad men, telling the passengers to sit down and shut up. All the while they have no idea what's around the next curve.

ALFRED L. GOULD (1858-1928)

Alfred L. Gould fut vraisemblablement pendant la même période franc-maçon, chevalier des Maccabées (Organisation paramaçonnique) et membre de l'Association Internationale des Etudiants de la Bible.

Nota. Pour entrer dans l'ordre maçonnique, il faut avoir un âge minimum de 18 ans, voir pour certaine(s) loge(s) 21 ans

It should be assumed that since C T Russell and his associates gave many public talks at Freemason Halls that some people who

were associated and recognized with the IBSA were also Freemason members.

Also it should be acknowledged that the remaining IBSA after departing from J Rutherford and his newly created JW organization

were still somewhat connected to the Freemasons long there after.

Did anyone note the cover of the Book 'a helping hand for bible students' The Time is at Hand' posted by mizpah2 has the Wings of Isisembossed on the cover, and these wings of Isis were on the covers of many if not all Russell's Books . Isis being the wife of Osiris and Mother of Horus worshipped in Egypt, Rome, Greece and Asia.

Thats because C T Russell embraced and preached the quack theology of Pyramidology, he sold and promoted this theology right up until his death

in 1916.

Mind you he didn't create this theology by himself, he drafted the idea from other people but he more or less commercialized it in to his books and

magazines which he was the head editorial writer.

The probable reason why JWS meet and worship in what they call Kingdom Halls is because of the past use of the organization

using Masonic Halls for their public speaking arrangements.

There seems to be some connecting relevance with Masonic teaching and Pyramidlogy as an expressed ideology in itself.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is sometimes used as sacred monument for mankind in its building construction, the gradual directing top

being symbolic as being God and the lower transcending levels segments of wisdom spread out proportionately to mankind.

There is also Egyptian symbols seen in many Masonic Halls.

The other interesting part to this Pyramidology concept is that there is an image of a Pyramid on the American 1 dollar bill.

Why ? because some of the previous Presidents and other notable people of the American government were Freemasons.
