Hard to believe they would have the nerve to say something like this, when almost 2/3 of Witness youths leave, as reported from pewforum.org a couple of years ago.
Thanks Drop, that was going to be my comment. Of the 5 JW baptized in my graduation class, including myself, only ONE is still in, 29 years later. To me that is a lot more than 10 percent. Of course, I can name a lot more than just us 4 that has left to add up to a greater percentage. They must be doing some creative math and the sheep are too dumb to figure it out.

That would be a first . . . but alas no. Yet another fine example of selective and misleading quotes from fringe "scientists" and lashings of creationist bias. Scientist Donald E Johnston is a proponent of "intelligent design". Any evolution specialist quoted is referred to as an "evolutionist" rather than "scientist". The mainstream evolutionary scientist is the enemy . . . the fringe scientist the hero of the day. Statements from reputable scientists supporting evolutionary theory are cleverly presented as "dissenters" working for God when selectively quoted, when their stance is nothing of the sort.
For example there is this quote from the awake . . .
Wojciech Makalowski says that such thinking “repelled mainstream researchers from studying noncoding [junk] DNA,” with the exception of a small number of scientists, who, “at the risk of being ridiculed, explore unpopular territories. What they don't go on to say is that these "genomic treasures" called "transposons" may well be responsible for genetic mutation and involved in the evolutionary variations of protiens and consequently the DNA code itself.
Makalowski describes them, are like "little autonomous entities that live in the genome." With their special DNA codes, they can "make offspring and move around," that is, they can induce the cell to make a copy of their sequence and then reinsert that copy into another part of the genome. If the new copy happens to land in the middle of a coding sequence, however, it can cause a fatal mutation. For this reason, some scientists have considered transposons genetic parasites that breed at the expense of the genome they live in. But Makalowski is sticking up for the little guys, arguing that they are more helpful than harmful — a kind of genetic symbiont.
Perhaps a more important function of transposons comes from their ability to change the way DNA code is edited before the information is used to build a useful protein. DNA in the cell's nucleus is first copied and then exported to the protein manufacturing centers. However, this rough draft of the genetic plan is full of junk code that special molecules — like little editors — have to trim out, leaving only the sections of code that are actually used for building the final molecule. These little editors can bind to the special bit of code between the useful and junk DNA, called "splicing sites," and cut the strand. When certain transposons jump into the mix, however, they can introduce new cutting sites and interfere with old ones. By this means, new pieces of DNA get into the final draft of the code, and new variations of proteins are manufactured. It's full of examples like this in order to make it sound learned and scholastic. But once again it is selective to the point of being dishonest in creating a false impression . . . surprise surprise. Without a critical review however . . . it is able to fool elementary level students . . . which is 99.9% of JW's.
