So my wife's cousin known as "Free" on this site told us of this new documentary coming soon. I'm not sure if it's coming soon to theatres, independent film theatres, or just dvd. the movie is called Truth Be Told. Here's a teaser trailer that doesn't show much except black and white images of people carrying a red bag. The bag is supposed to symbolize the emotional baggage that we all carry as a JW.

Here's some of the interviews in the film.

Unfortunately, I am worried that the directory may be using the film to push his own brand of christiaity.

Two of the pictures on the film's website show people reading a magazine that is not a Watchtower publication. I can't see any other reason to have somehting like that in a publicty photo.

go here and click on media. http://www.hereliesthetruth.com/

    Here lies truth director

That magazine looks intentionally made like a Watchtower replica. Even with the "live forever on paradise earth" message...

Maybe the director didn't want to get any complaints from the WT for using their literature in an "apostate film".

There is no religious agenda. It's a prop. Does he need WT trying to sue him? Remember what they did to WTComments.org
I've been communicating with him. He was raised a JW and wants to get the story out. He's letting the stories allow the viewers form their own opinions about the WT and what it is like being raised a JW.

I don't think we should label it apostate if we want it to have the same viewing in the JW community that "knocking" did.
Of course we know that's how WT views it.

ABOUT FILM TRUTH BE TOLD is a feature length documentary that explores the lives of several individuals raised in the Jehovah’s Witnesses religion. The title of the film refers to the tendency by Jehovah’s Witnesses to regard their beliefs exclusively as ‘the truth’.

‘The documentary is not an indictment of religion but rather a retrospective. In a series of informal interviews, former Jehovah’s Witnesses discuss life experiences within the organization including the impact the religion had on their childhood and family, schooling, adolescence, and approaches to dating and marriage. The film also explores how being raised in that religion has shaped their spiritual beliefs and attitudes.’

discreetslave, Thank you for that insight on the magazine. I can see the reason as you state. If he is worried about using real litature, then I understand.

I really like Amber's picture in front of the Assembly hall. Something about it seems photoshopped, maybe the stark white sign and the black text, do you happen to know if the picture is real?

The photo of the young lady is absolutely real (as is the brief footage of her in the fundraising video)
