Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing

In today's Watchtower Study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former Df'ed Witness expressing appreciation for being shunned. These comments always remind me of a Stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).

After this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".

Oh, Really? Do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR RELATIVES -AND NOT BECAUSE OF FEARING JEHOVAH !!!???

Think about it. If disfellowshipping is openly motivated by getting back with your cultish relatives, then what, pray tell, does that have to do with repentance towards God?

    And the second point!

Jehovah's Witnesses keep lying and lying and lying - as this article does - about how disfellowshipping 'keeps the organization clean'.

It does not! This is an endlessly repeated , bold face lie!

How so? The Jews of Jesus' day loved shunning! Did it make them 'clean'? ( see Luke 6: 22)

Does the Watchtower complain about many leading a 'double life'? Is that 'clean'?

Do internet sites, such as this one, manifest documents and confidential information in a steady stream, that comes from Witnesses pretending to be loyal?

Does the Society warm about "apostates" lurking in congregations currently?

Do disfellowshipping cases often manifest serious sins committed over years, sometimes decades, including homosexuality, child molestation, adultery and more?

Out of their own mouth, you can judge them, by their admissions about widespread problems in congregations. They are liars, seeking to deceive others, about a "cleanness" that their own evidence contradicts.

Jehovah's Witnesses keep lying and lying and lying

Brilliant, the mark of all real JW's: lying.

Five years ago I would never have believed it possible; but it is correct they just lie and lie and lie again!

A lot of good points... I really like the passage you used in Luke. I have always had a problem with the DFing policy. I have an aunt who has been DFed since I was very little, and even as an unbaptised JW child, I was not allowed to speak to her. My mom refused to speak to her own sister for any reason whatsoever. After my grandfather passed away, my aunt was angry about being shunned by my mom and another of her sisters. A lot of the other siblings are JW, so she felt it a lot from the family, but it never convinced her that she should get reinstated. Quite the contrary.

My brother was DFed for years and he got reinstated when my dad started studying. He's inactive and living the "worldly" life now. He just wanted to be able to have contact with family, I think. I won't DF or DA for that very reason.

I was going to make a new topic on this as I came home today. I was reading the WT today from the stage. I lay heavy intonations on what the Bible says and even made a comment that Jesus forgives those that sin because he came to the earth for that but those that claim to be his representatives but do not act accordingly will be judged by him.

Then I had to read the rest of the shit they produced and since it was a special talk with the invitations there were a bunch of interested ones. Did you notice that the remaining 4 paragraphs had NO biblical support whatsoever. Usually the literature is laced with nitpicked bible verses that support their view but those paragraphs were TOTALLY DEVOID of ANY scriptures (except that one where it says that you should remain loyal to Jehovah) and actually referenced 2 WatchTowers to support the practice of shunning.

I saw a lot of screwed up faces from both visitors and witnesses and there was a huge lack of comments on that whole section (the other ones either husbands or wives were quick to comment on "you shouldn't drink" it's an issue among wives in our congregation and "you shouldn't watch pornography", I guess it's an issue everywhere). The cheap stab at "Twilight, the series" in the picture (VeinLove, the series, the number of letters actually matches Twilight) and the ugliest wife with button-up pajama's in the other picture, I would need some porn too to get hot for that.

Either way, when I was reading the last 2 paragraphs on the shunning subject, I got really angry for some reason and people could surely hear my voice quiver. I bit my lip and read fast for the remaining 2 paragraphs in order not to start crying, got off the stage, threw my books at my seat and went down to the bathroom and punched the wall. If you see knuckle imprints in the drywall in your congregation's bathroom near the baby changing station, I'm sorry. I was entertaining the thought to disassociate myself right then and there from the stage but I can't do that to my family at this point in time.

I got in a huge back and forth argument with another Witness (in private) about the shunning subject afterwards (I called it that) requesting scriptural support for shunning. I said I agree with disfellowshipping (no longer accepting them in the congregation to be called Christians) but I don't agree with the part where you have no contact, Paul said himself in the scripture that was read at the beginning of that section that this does not apply to worldly people but JW's consider people that are disfellowshipped to be worldly. I was close to being called an apostate for reading the bible scriptures before I backed off.

Anouny Mouse, a great posting. I was with my little children in the kitchen of the kingdomhall and heard everything from a safe distance.

    It is all shit.

Many, many of the JW's in the Netherlands don't DF their family. We are here very liberal. We hate DF.

Once again the Watchtower writers miss one of the key points in their "support scripture" of 1 Corinthians 5:9-13:

(1 Corinthians 5:9-13) 9 In my letter I wrote YOU to quit mixing in company with fornicators, 10 not [meaning] entirely with the fornicators of this world or the greedy persons and extortioners or idolaters. Otherwise, YOU would actually have to get out of the world.

11 But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. 12 For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do YOU not judge those inside, 13 while God judges those outside? “Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.”

vs 9,10 applies to those OUTSIDE the Christian congregation vs 11-12 applies to actively sinning Christians

Once you remove the "brother" from the congregation, they are no longer "called a brother", and should be treated as do the "worldly" people in vs 9 and 10.

metatron ----- they don't care why people (bodies) are filling up the seats or their agenda for being there as long as they are salesmen. it's the only way they can make money plus the shunning of children guarantees estate money. i'd love to know the stats of how many people are walking away especially w/the hard-economic times in this country. who has money for magazines and auto expenses but know people have to contribute something to be part of the system.

the shunning paragraphs are enough to give one a stroke --- those crooklyn clowns trying to hold on to their country club lifestyles. if only it would work against them. HOPE 101!
