I read a upcomming book called My Dead Dad Was in ZZ Top by Jon Glaser. In it was a song list by Prince which he performed his song adjusted for the Bat Mitzvah of Rachel Speilberg daughter of director Steven Speilberg. Prince and Speilberg signed non-disclosure agreements and the guests signed waivers of secrecy. On that song list:Purple Oy Vey,Gett Off(The Bema),I Want to be Your Cantor,Little Red Draidle etc. Prince thinks he is so slick but, I believe Brooklyn will turn the other way.

    I know Prince personally.

    He is an amazing individual.

And what people do for money is their business alone.

Normally I would agree with you, Confucious, regarding how a person earns their money being their business (if it's legal, anyway), but it's different because Prince claims to be a JW.

So many of us have had career dreams shattered by the dictates of the WTS. We were told not to persue higher education, lest that takes us away from being a JW.

Also, career choices were also dictated by the WTS. Don't sell cigarettes or lottery tickets, don't work in casinos, etc. In my old cong, a guy worked for the Postal service, and was told he shouldn't deliver mail to homes, lest he be delivering to a criminal(??!!?)

Finally, JWs are held up to be the epitome of Christians because of their morality (as well as other things). Yet Prince decides it's ok now to perform songs that we as JWs were forbidden to listen to!!

It is blatent hypocrisy that Prince is able to get away with things that the average rank and file JW would be disciplined for.

And here he is recently at the Half time show, with 50 million people watching across North America.

What a fine witness Brother Prince gave as a representative of god's earthly organization !

    Broken...

I feel ya more than you know.

    Here is my "alt" perspective.

When I was in Monday Bookstudy... and the elder there would finish up the study and then open the room for encouraging experiences...

I remember talking about how Prince gave this experience of going door to door - and all I would see is eyes roll.

The vast majority of the rank and file of JW - in my opinion, is so jealous of Prince.

They feel he's getting the best of both worlds - that he's both prominent in the world and at the same time - going to get "everlasting life."

And I think it irks most rank and file Witnesses.

    I say, "Leave him alone."

    I say, "Leave him alone."

Why, is Prince being hurt by an opinion that he will never be aware of?
