    Hello!

I have recently become interested in macro economics, particular in the current crisis. I wonder if you guys have some links to informative and educational blogs, columns or other resources?

I am personally reading Paul Krugmans blog on NYT: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/

Keeping in mind that there are more false prophecies uttered in the name of economics than religion, check out this site.

Also, check out a gentleman by the name of Jim Rogers.

    LOL @ Sebaceous!

Krugman . Read The Conscience of a Liberal - a good overview of American economics in the last 100 years.

Joseph Stiglitz writes occasionally for Nation magazine. Here is a good interview with him:

Also: Das Kapital by Karl Marx has some interesting ideas. And The Daily Worker.*

*I threw that in for JWoods.

JWoods appreciates it. I have a copy of Marx here on my desk.

I like The Automatic Earth, Energy Bulletin, and Financial Armageddon.

So, yes, I'm kinda into doomer "porn." It's more intellectually stimulating to me that the typical left-right/liberal-conservative rhetoric of the mass media outlets.

I am an economist and to be honest I hate reading anyone's opinion on what is going on. Basically, as someone (unfortunately I cannot remember who) said, economic forecasting is like trying to predict where a car is going when it is a dark night, you have no lights on and you can only see out of the rear view window. Real economics is about resources and how they are deployed. Most of the 'news' is finance (or as some like to say 'financial economics') and has little really to do with economics in my opinion - just the movement of money. Things are never as bad as the pessimistic economists make out and never as good as the optomists would have you believe. I will stop now or it will just turn into a rant and make me depressed about how people don't talk about real economic issues anymore.
