2 nice ladys called on me the other day , as one started her "speach" the other one looked embarresed , i interupted and said to the embarresed one "you know why im not interested in your religion ,dont you " she replied "yes im sorry i couldnt rember which one you lived in " (i had met her at my door some months ago , and explained that my daughter was raped as a child by a man i had met at the kingdom hall , and some jws support him despite him abusing other jws etc , i had told of the paedpphile problem in the religion and my jw inlaws dont visit my little girl because her daddy is a disfellowshipped man , which i think is very unchristian) the other lady then started admiring my dress , then my little girl appeared and she said how pretty she was etc, i said goodbye and closed the door , i wish i had heard what the 2nd lady had said to her friend in explanation for why i was not interested ! the annoying thing is my little girl then wanted to know who they are and what did they want to talk about , so i explained they were in "that religion that grandma is in "that stops her coming to see daddy , which upset her , then hubby came back from work later in a good mood untill i told him of the visit that had upset our little girl and then he was moody with me and said "dont talk to them again , next time tell them to be made a "do not call " for ever and never ever review it !is it possible to do that in our situation ? i dont want my family life upset .
will jehovahs witnesses make me a permanant "do not call "

@Looloo,
Next time witnesses call you can just request that you be put on the "do not call" list. Then you shouldn't get any calls (though sometimes witnesses call by mistake if they forget to check the list when they do the territory). You can also write to the Branch in your country asking to be put on the do not call list and they will forward your request to the appropriate congregation (make sure your address is included so they know which congregation to forward to and what address to put on the list!)

Put a sign up that says "No Jehovah's Witnesses, or any other religion that shelters child rapists!"

In the UK you could be setting yourself up for arrest for inciting religious hatred with a sign like that. A sign stating no religious callers would suffice. All that I know respect that. If you are just on the do not call list then it’s most likely that someone will call by mistake every once in a while. Also, after a couple of years one of the elders out that day will call, in case you moved house. That’s how it goes here anyhow.

When I used to do the J W thing, I know from personal experience that it is so very easy to miss the fact that a certain house is a "Do Not Call"
In my day the note would be made on the territory map. Maybe, the group leader would convey to you which houses should be missed, maybe he would forget.
When two people are working house to house, they begin chatting among themselves to relieve the boredom of all the "Not at Homes" ..How many times have dubs knocked a door, then said "Whoops" this one we should have missed .
Anyway the congregation will never make it permanent. The know that people move sometimes and there might be somebody really interested who has moved in???

ive lived at my present address for 7 years.
a jw lives in the flats next door; i often see groups of them meeting there on tuesday mornings
they frequently " work" the locality, yet
I HAVE NEVER BEEN CALLED ON ! yet i'm home a lot--i've even seen several peering through my front gate.
i've never told anyone not to call, i'd welcome it, chance to do some anti-witnessing--got ray franz book ready to show 'em

you could bypass waiting for the next jw caller,
send the hall a registered letter (that they have to sign for that gives you proof of delivery) put in it your name and house number and state that you wish to be put on their no call list immediately,
say that you will view any further calls as harrassment, and that you are prepared to use legal means if it is not adhered to.
cc. your solicitor on the bottom of the letter.

i saw them a couple of ours later after they had obviously finished door knocking , 4 of them were walking along heads down , not talking looking as miserable as sin (not the happy smiling faces that had been presented to me earlier !) i felt sorry for them and how dull their lives must be . thanks all for your comments , a sign is a good idea .

Fair enough. However, ALL jurisdictions do permit the householder or tenant to permit or restrict whomever they wish, whether the reason is rational or not. The only persons with right of access are those who have legitimate business to be there, for instance, letter carriers, delivery persons, meter readers, repair persons and the like.
My own sign says "NO Soliciting, NO Peddling, NO Preaching".
