"Digital camera" is a pretty broad category nowadays. Besides "cheap," which isn't always a good thing in itself, is there anything you would like it to do in particular?

I would agree with the rest of the folks here the as far as pocket cameras go Canon is a very good choice, the color reproduction
for their small Inst-matics are among the best .
The Canon 3500 IS has 14 mega-pixels of resolution and a 3'' LCD screen and sells for about $300.00 US.

It's a buyer's market so you can't go wrong whatever you buy. The cheapest Canon camera should be able to record movies with sound, fits in your pocket, and with recharchable batteries costs nothing to run and takes excellent photos.
