Remember all the stupid Special Needs Talks? I remember one that was about a kid picking up a $5 bill outside of the Kingdom Hall. He looked around to see if anyone around him lost it, and when no one did, he decided to keep it. Hence . . the need to discuss this situation for a half-hour with the congergation and make the kid feel like shit. The freak elder who gave this talk reminded me of the old school Kermit the Frog reporter on Sesame Street. This guy stressed words and even scrunched his face like Kermit. Anyways . . . he said that if we ever find money on the ground (anywhere, not just outside of hall) and don't plan on finding it's rightful owner, or donate it to the WTS, we need to leave it on the ground. Otherwise it's just as bad as stealing from someone's pocket! LOL!

Great. His idea was either to find the rightful owner, give it to the WTS, or leave it on the ground.

In other words, the kid probably did the only practical thing.

You're missing the point. If it fell out of a JWs pocket, then the WTS is its rightful owner.

I think RebeccaChi meant that the elder said not to find its rightful owner or even put it in the contribution box, simply to leave it

We had one on the extreme importance of "sisters" wearing pantyhose while out in service, even in the summer heat.

Because we all know how risque bare toes are!

Hmm, now that I think of it, I wonder if the elder giving the part had a foot fetish, and it really was a big issue to him....

Oh yeah, going way back, I remember a local needs part on parents' need to monitor their kids' use of the bathoom during the meeting. It seems that kids were writing messages on little pieces of paper and scattering them on the bathroom floor. The speaker actually read some from the platform. For some reason, the only one I remember said something like "Dear Peter Pan, I hate your peanut butter."

Ahh, the fertile mind of 9 year olds.....

There was a local needs part in a neighboring cong about getting gas in a gas station that was adjoining a casino. If someone saw you pulling in or out, they might be stumbled.

It's always been my thinking that money doesn't 'belong' to anyone in the sense of ownership like property. It's legal tender or currency used to settle debts or make purchases. Once someone who was holding it no longer holds it, whether by handing it over or by dropping it on the ground, its no longer in that person's possession. If someone picks it up off the ground, it becomes his - until he uses it or loses it. That's why we have banks...to hold our money so we don't lose it.

A simplistic view, but one that comes in handy when I find a $20 bill laying on the ground in front of Walmart. Hell if I'm taking it inside so the manager takes possession of it...

What we know as money belongs to the federal reserve. The details of that is another topic, but for this discussion, whatever happened to "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar"?

Wearing a blouse in hot weather, with no CARDIGAN!!!

The old dustfarting reptile who gave this gem, claimed that seeing the bra strap through the fabric, might cause a brother to become aroused during the meeting. He would miss the spiritual food as he fantasises about what he might do, given the "opportunity"
