Beards?

I'm new here and probably missed the latest discussion of the beard topic. What's the latest on beards in JW society? I'm 2 weeks into a beard and just got to wondering about it. (it's coming off tonight...looks good, but it itches and is just not me)

When I left....if you had a beard you might as well have leprosy. They didn't want you doing anything and would barely acknowledge the person's existence. What about when the gotee fad started?

If there is still negativity....what's up with that? It's just hair and can be groomed nice. Also, I was always embarrassed by those crazy pictures of a beardless Jesus in the old publications.

Ladies....what's your thoughts? Would you be okay with your man having a beard when you were in the JW's?

a long time ago someone on here stated that the brothers in the hall looked like porn

stars with those thick mustaches. it does look weird. either a bro has a bald face or a thick

    mustache.

The stigma is still there, sadly...

I'm a girl who loves me some scruff so it was always something that bugged me no end that men aren't allowed beards. My ex used to grow his on vacation and it was super sexy then back to the KH and he had to shave.

I could never really understand it. I can see the elders not having beards due to the transition period of growing it and being visable from the platform. But, R&F should be able to do as they please without the stigma. Should be a conscience matter. My god, it's 2010. If doctrine pans out, do they think they will be able to shave everyday after Armageddon? Probably still more about control than anything.

What's this crazy stuff about an Armageddon bag? Does it contain a shaving kit?

Good grief Brooklyn...give it up already!

Still a no-no, and I don't think you can (or at least you're not supposed to) get on stage with one.

I started a beard as an act of defiance. It's still frowned upon in this part of the U.S. A newly baptized had to shave his before they dunked him. So yeah.

Beards and unshaven men are way to normal and masculine for the gender neutral GB........................ no balls at all

I'd love to hear a bearded newb question them, that because he has a beard, why can't he be baptized into a religion started by a man with a beard.

Speaking of balls........they haven't started checking those for hair or not, have they?

not such a big deal here, some congos will not let you on stage, others dont care.

Here we had years ago a short discussion, but ended with a liberal timely approach. No problem, if overall appearance is neat.

But I know from other halls it causes sometimes divisons between hardliners and liberals among the elders.
