WHY DOES ‘UNDERSTANDING’ WOMEN CAUSE SUCH AN IMPACT…??

I bumped into this reaction (nearly called it a problem) when I was a JW. Being that single ‘sisters’ were out of bounds to chat to (unless you were thinking of marrying them), I thought that it was a safe(er) option to chat to married ‘sisters’. I reasoned that they would have been happy in their marriage so chatting to them wouldn’t be such a problem. Or so I thought…..

The problem is (and this is not said as any kind of brag) that I show a lot of understanding in my conversation. This provoked an emotional reaction and went onto cause problems in the friendship and would usually end them. I was totally perplexed until a close (female) friend of mine took me to one side and said accusingly “it’s your fault, you’re just too understanding…!!”.

I was only young and just enjoyed female company, and didn’t understand what I was doing. I do understand it a little more now but the reaction still perplexes me somewhat. I can’t talk for all men, but from a mans perspective, if I am understood, I just get the feeling of relief that someone knows what I am going through. A deep sigh and that is that. But despite asking numerous women I am friends with, I still don’t know the mechanics of why understanding causes such a huge emotional reaction.

So is there a way of explaining it……???

I have the same problem. Married women tend to be drawn to me because I simply have a listening ear. Sometimes they develop an emotional attachment to me which tends to complicate things (to say the least).

because women dont actually know what they want from one hormonal surge to the next.

LOL Nice try hamsterbait, but women do know what they want. They want a partner who will listen to them and understand them (so do men coincidentally) Mr. Majestic was just causing problems because he was giving them what their husband's weren't and making them look bad!

It happens the same way in reverse as we women know all too well. Be nice or polite to some men and they automatically think you "want them: BAD." With some guys, a woman can be looking at the clock behind them in a restaurant or anywhere else in public and they'll turn to their friends and say, "She wants me: bad."

HB......because women dont actually know what they want from one hormonal surge to the next.

Yes, we women are fickle because of our hormones. Thank goodness men are free of hormonal surges; I've always believed that testosterone has nothing to do with men's behavior. I'm sure, HB, that "little HB" doesn't ever tell you what you want from one testosterone surge to the next.

Oh parakeet, don't you know, men are clearly the superior gender? I think they should run the world and be in charge of say: governments, wars, nuclear bombs, religions, Nascar and booby bars. Men don't ever act on hormones or impulse. Nooooo. Lol.

Yes, yes, they should be in charge of porn. They know how to make it universally appealing and all.
