Thanks purps, Cat Stevens, a favorite since I was 13. Married a guy who looked identical...with blue eyes and a lot taller. Same beautiful black curly hair though, and now both of his sons have the blond version! The other has my straight blond hair....both with magnificant blue eyes. By the way they were raised on Cat Stevens music, and still love his music at 22 and 25. Their favorite is "Where do the Children Play?"

So here is just one of my favorite Cat Stevens songs.......If you are not familiar with this, it is a conversation between a Father and Son. Once you listen you will understand the conversation. Funny....it applys to girls too....He wrote so many songs like this,.....and so applies to JW kids!

I have loved Cat Stevens since I first heard and bought the 45 of Wild World in 1970. Have you seen the movie Harold and Maude? The entire soundtrack, save one classical piece, is well chosen Cat Stevens.

This song plays over the opening credits and first scene. The lyrics are perfect advice for doubting JW's who want to come out of the org and for all of here on JWD.

    Cat Stevens
    Don't Be Shy lyrics

Don't be shy just let your feelings roll on by
Don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
Just lift your head, and let your feelings out instead
And don't be shy, just let your feeling roll on by
    On by

You know love is better than a song
Love is where all of us belong
So don't be shy just let your feelings roll on by
Don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
    You're there

Don't be shy just let your feelings roll on by
Don't wear fear or nobody will know you're there
Just lift your head, and let your feelings out instead
And don't be shy, just let your feeling roll on by
On by, on by, on by, on by, etc.

A not so well known Don McClean gem. Very, very good though. Brings me back the West Texas desert plains of the early 1980's when I first heard this in the waiting room of Andrews, TX dentist.

    Very mellow.

FHN...I loved "Harold and Maude"...just for the music.

The only way I survived being a JW teenager in the 70's was because of Cat Stevens, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Gordon Lightfoot...the three we were allowed to listen to without backlash. Although I am sure the presiding elders would have never approved.

In honor of my 19 year old brother at the time.... he died testing one of his friends bikes,...the chain had not been maintained on his friend's Harley and my Brother died as the chain snapped on the first beautiful night in Chicago at the end of April going 80 MPH. It snapped and severed his leg off. He died on the way to the hospital.

His own Harley was perfectly maintained...and wound up going to the wrong person after he died.....it should have gone to his younger brother.

In Honor of my younger brother, He would have been 47 now. His favorite song:
