Did You Have Respect For The Elders In Your Hall?

One day after a Sunday meeting, 2 elders got into it with each other and started SCREAMING at one another in the back of the Hall just as service arrangements were being made. Of course, the BOE counseled them strongly but the result was that the congregation lost respect for the whole body.

lol this reminds me of the old testament story when King david's wife saw king david dancing through the streets in a loin cloth and despised him for it, we expect perfection from our leaders then despise them for showing us they are human!

In my current hall, yes. They are men with imperfections, I am sure. But they have acted in ways that don't cause you to lose respect for them.

In the hall I was in previously, not at all. They were the worst elders I had ever seen. One of them flirted with married sisters on the building committee and cursed regularly at his workplace. His son, a ministerial servant, once cursed out his own mother (the elder's wife). That elder has since left his wife to run off with anothe woman.

Another one of the elders was only interested in making himself appear to be smart and wealthy (he was neither).

There were a few other bad seeds. The elders never disfellowshipped anybody because so many people had goods on them. They would have to go down, too.

It was one of those congregations that you hear tales about getting disbanded. You've heard about them:Entire congregations broken up for practicing open racism, pornography rings, wife swapping, etc.

We had this real tool of a newbie/moved-in Congregation Overseer (this was before elders) that actually gave a 5 minute prayer after the service meeting in which he gave "special thanks to Jehovah for the special blessing of holy spirit he had given to the congregation since he (this overseer) had been assigned to the congregation".

That got him a tremendous about of continuing respect. Nobody could believe that this egomaniac had actually said it without any shame.

This was, BTW, the same guy that gave me a dressing down for cutting some of the Watctowers when I opened the rolls...and who nearly called a committee meeting on me when I bought a Porsche. Unbelievably, he also wanted to try to tune the KH piano all on his own when he found out I had one of those strobe light tuning devices (it was for guitars) that I used in my musical instrument repair business. Fortunately I got that stopped and we hired a professional.

My first, tremendous and I feel a debt of gratitude.

Ones I attended after being married and moving to another state: Yep, nice guys, were very fair minded.

Ones in the KH I spent the most time in, and am in attendance:

    Individually:...... some but not all.

    As a BOE........HELL NO!

No No No No No...No...... I am sorry but that level of weakness, propped-up only on the assertion of male anatomy...no no no no no no.

I give respect automatically, but once lost (you have to be a real ass or doofus to make me not have any respect).......earning it back takes some balls, and most of them are lacking a strong set.

Not to say I am not friends with the younger ones........but just that they would be considered weak in nature and character by most of society.

Yknot.....(an apparent trouble making, unsubmissive, disobedient, authority nose thumbing B**ch)

In the congregation I was a part of for most of my decade as a JW, there were six elders. One I had a lot of respect for because he really tried to live the life as presented by the Society. Three of them were ok I suppose as they were just run of the mill JW's. One was a loon because he always stated that he beleived anything the Society said and if they told him to kill worldly folks, he probably would do it. The last was quite a pervert as I learned one day after he went on vacation and I got to read his judicial hearing notes.

I lost all respect for the elders once I found they didn't practice what they preached and the cliches that was created. And the one that was a bully to others.

I found that it is all a facade and they looked at it as prestige.

    What a bunch of losers.
