True religion? That's an oxymoron, right?

    deadlyskilz,

You asked: If some of you believe there is no true religion then why are you soley picking apart this religion and not others?

My reply: This forum is intended for discussion about Jehovah's Witnesses. Mainly topics about the WT and JWs are discussed. You obviousely have not been on this forum for long so you have not seen the many topics about other religions that have came up over the course of this forums opening. We do at times talk about other religions here.

As far as the WT and some of their teachings holding some ground in society, could you please be specific as to which teachings?

Are you looking for a true religion or are you looking for a reason to justify you aren't in religion?

True religion is to help the needy and afflicted, bridle one's tongue and to stay away from the desires of pride and material gains for oneself. (see James)
    Seek Christ in the poor.

I personally do not believe that their is one true religion now. I feel that when God took away the "right" to the Jewish people he opened up new avenues for others. Comes to mind the old saying "When a door is closed other doors open." In the New Testament it talks about a group of people that carry the name of God. Put Jehovah or whatever you want in there. To me, a true Christian is a person who is doing 110% into whatever they feel that God is teling them to do. For me it is to follow the 10 commandments and the extras that Jesus stated while on earth. One of those being "Love thy neighbor as thyself." I feel that if we, each and every one of us, follow those basic rules we cannot fail. Whatever it takes to make us a better person and closer to God..................how can it be wrong?

If there was a 'true religion', it would be no more a matter of doubt than a simple mathematical equation, like F=Ma.

But all we have are doubts and differing claims. Would god allow this if there was one path?

It's an absurdity to suggest that a god of love would allow people to perish just because they didn't allow the FACT of their existence to be clear to all.

But, we can't even prove god exists, let alone what he wants.

So, there is no true religion, maybe there is no god.

Maybe we should just concentrate on being excellent to one another?

Now, you obviously have doubts, else you would not be here, but the way we talk about the Organisation has triggered a programmed responce in you. We are bad people, not building up, just tearing down.

Hold your defence of the Society for a moment; if something is badly built, so that it damages people inside it, and makes them think they are safe, when they are not, don't you think tearing it down is a good idea?

Remember, the JW's take pride in pointing out the faults of other faiths. We do the same to them. If those faults are genuine (you decide), then we are entitled and right to do what we do.

There is only one true religion that serves the true God Zeus. Since Zeus lives on Mt. Olympia with the lesser gods, the name of this religon is Olympianism. I happen to be a paid minister and gladly accept donations to further our work of keeping mere mortals in line.

Believing that there is one true religion is difficult when there are so many circumstantial ways to find religion:

    1) Geographic Location
    2) Upbringing
    3) Experiences in life
    4) Chance encounters with members of other religions

I'm sure there are more that I can't think of right now. But, my point is, if there was one true religion, and Joe Schmo was raised to believe one way his whole life because that is the religion of his region, did he ever really have a chance to find that one true religion? Whereas here's Betty Blossom in the other side of the world who just happened to be raised in the correct religion.

Seems like a very unfair system if that's the case.

I think most Jdubs are sincere people, even if sincerely wrong. The ORGANIZATION is a bueaocracy (sp), the doctrines are applied in bad fashion and are destructive.

The one true religion, that's easy The Holy Catholic Church.
