Whilst a JW, one thing that was evident to me was the constant gossip and backbiting.....being nice to someones face and then talking about them behind there backs.Were you ever a "victim" of this sort of behaviour??? IS IT AS COMMON AS I SUSPECT from cong. to cong???

I didn't know there was something wrong with 'visiting a shopping mall' and/or 'going on a shopping spree'. These are perfectly normal activities in the western world. I could see maybe if you were seen entering a porno shop. You say you 'weren't there to shop' but 'wanted to get out of traffic' as though there was some sin involved in the very act of being in a mall. Who cares what some nosy old bag in the hall has to say. There is no need to justify yourself or explain anything to anybody.
This just underscores how abnormal people in the religion are. They have serious issues about the male/female thing and 'appearances'.

The easier question might be to ask "who was NOT the subject of KH gossip?"
I may think of somebody, but no names come to mind off the top of my head.

I totally managed to "Piss" off 3 congregations in one fell swoop… I am sure
they talked about me for months… and still look at me like I am the devil
himself, years later.
The reason is so unique; there is no way they wouldn’t know who I am… I hate
that... not feeling free to share stories with out fear of being found out… almost
like still being in the KH without an outlet to express ourselves.
I am sure others feel just as boxed in… the board misses out on some interesting
stores because of it.

It was so (still is ) bad in our old hall that a special committee of outside elders had to come in and delete several of our elders . Elders wives were the instigators of the rampant gossip here.
Yep, small minds and a small town made for alot of gossip. Anything I did was broadcast for a 60 mile radius in every direction. Also, per the rumor mill I was engaged several times which I thought was odd as I hadn't even dated at that point
yeah, I was the subject of disapproval most of my life. Everything criticized. I had friends, so I thought, but one of my best friends (an elder's wife) told the entire circuit something I had told her in confidence. It was humiliating to have it known everywhere and to have people feel free to ask me about something so private and distressing. I hate her still and the entire organization she belongs to.
