Thier is so much evedence of evolution happening every day guys, the smarter the species got the clearer they could see it. We see it in viriuses in a matter of hours. Take HIV as a clear example of evolution happening right under our eyeballs with the electron microscope.

The 1963 All scripture is Inspired Book has the universe being created in 46,026 BCE. At that time they held to the view that each day was 7,000 years and then after 6 days(42,000 years) God rested (the Sabbath) after the 7th day(49,000 years) there would be the great Jubilee (the 1,000 year reign) after that everything would be back to the way it was in the beginning. This was modeled after the Jewish system and I believe this was a view held by other Bible commentators from before my time.

If the 1,000 year reign started in 1975 as expected this theory would have been right. If you were a studious Witness back then you could have expected the 1,000 year reign in 1975 based on this alone.

The Watchtower perpetually talks out of its arse over every subject and is prone to being blown by the winds of change. They just want to look so hip hop on top with the latest information! Do they actually do any research on anything themselves? No. This leaves them victim to whatever happens to hit the latest book and magazine shelves be it Evolution or how to hoover your carpet properly. Their information is best used as barbeque fuel!

Reasoning From The Scriptures 1989 p. 88 Creation
Was all physical creation accomplished in just six days sometime within the past 6,000 to 10,000 years?
The facts disagree with such a conclusion: (1) Light from the Andromeda nebula can be seen on a clear night in the northern hemisphere. It takes about 2,000,000 years for that light to reach the earth, indicating that the universe must be at least millions of years old. (2) End products of radioactive decay in rocks in the earth testify that some rock formations have been undisturbed for billions of years.

"Consider the relationship between Jehovah and Jesus. They were together in heaven for perhaps billions of years."
    The Watchtower, August 15, 2005

In all fairness, the WTS has not said that the literal earth is just a few thousand years old. What they have asserted is that it was a lifeless ball until about 49,000 years ago when God began to create life on it. Then the creative days began. Light from the sun began to shine through the haze, etc. etc. and the animals were created several thousand years later, and then man, a little over 6,000 years ago.

Unfortunately, this does not address the issue of dinosaurs, fossils, and life forms that have been proven to exist millions of years ago. Then there were saber-toothed tigers and wooly mammoths, etc. and the evidence of early man. This shows that more than many thousands of years have passed since life began on earth. At the same time, it shows that the creative days could not possibly have been merely seven literal days, either. This could not account for all the fossil evidence, some millions of years old.

Science, particularly geology and paleontology, have come a long way in the past one hundred years in finding out much of the history of our planet, and uncovering secrets of plate movement, layers of rock, ages of rock, and dating of fossil finds. In fact, those of us who have now gone to college and studied these things have found out many "truths" that show that the WTS position of thousands of years for a creative time period is lacking in substance.

Again, though, to be fair, they did not say that the literal earth is only a few thousand years old. They are guilty of enough without adding these charges to the mix.

Who are we to say that God COULD NOT create the universe in six days? Isn't so that God CREATED THE CONCEPT OF TIME? If this is the case, how can we limit him by saying that he could not have created everything we see (and don't see) in just a matter of days? Why then, would God ask the Israelites to observe the Sabbath if not for this reason?

I couldn't agree more! As a devout Last Thursdayist (Peace be upon last Thrusday) I believe the earth and the entire universe were all created last Thursday!

Anyone who says otherwise is foul and dirty and pukeing forth blasphemy of the highest order!

I'm guessing that they still have issues with carbon dating, and hold that homo sapien sapien has only been around for 6,000 years and a real worldwide flood occured about 4,000 years ago
