If that was the exact quote, it is as about as close to a personal invitation to "search" as you can get. Somebody at headquarters is either very naive or very smart. You be the judge.

    Axel

Wow, you are right, can you imagine someone writing this skit with the idea that they wanted the audience to actually do that search...lol.

"The truth is the problem starts BEFORE you ever get on the internet. If witnesses were satisfied with their religion they probably wouldn't start searching the net to begin with. I have my doubts most of the witnesses who get onto these sites simply stumble on them by accident. I first had my doubts...then I researched. "

AMEN. That is the point; if a person is at the point where they are willing to come to this site, they are ready to seriously question and research their faith.
When that happens, the game is OVER for the WT.

    LOL good point Axel.

I did this without ever looking at one piece of apostate material. It was because of jws themselves, and things I had seen and had had happen to me/ my family personally.

Meeeee too. I knew it was $(%*&^ up not because of the chronology but because of the way they beat up GOOD human beings for no reason. Also the fact that Judicial Committees are not consistent with 'punishment' really tipped the scales for me.

I don't have a picture of any of the assemblies this year but I would bet the average age in the pictures is 55-60. The young people aren't staying. They hear this garbage and laugh. Or log onto the internet from their cell phones while at the assembly.

I agree with the overwhelming view that trying to suppress the internet will do more harm than good in the long run.

However, you have to remember that the rank and file divide up into different factions. You will have the 'die hards', those totally loyal to 100% of everything the society says without ever questioning. These are the sorts that perhaps do not have a tv in their homes and probably wouldn't tolerate the thought of have a computer connected to the internet. At the other end, you will have those with genuine questions, those who are more open minded and prepared to think for themselves. Once these have found the internet they will soon be lost.

Darn! Then we aren't doing it right. There should be no question that it is apostate material.

    Tammy

Perhaps all apostate sites should have a label certifying that" "There is no question that this site contains apostate material"?

I believe it was Shakespear who wrote: Me thinks he protesteth too much.

I have always felt that anyone who spends the majority of their time and energy putting down the opposition, is hiding something substantial themselves.

Within the folds of the Watchquirer Society, there is no room for free thinking.

Guess that's why most of us are here.

They should live in fear of the Internet. It only took my daughter a day or two of research and she was GONE from her old beliefs of a lifetime.

If a JW has the will to google JW's and then read and research them they will be gone also.

I always thought if you were going to picket a JW convention the best was to have a placard or billboard pointing to

    www.freeminds.org or www.jehovahs-witness.com

There are lots more sites out there...Feel free to add them to this thread..

I wonder if this site has inspired talks? Have to wonder. With a name like jehovah-witness.com, you know that a lot of active Witnesses accidentally come here.

You know porn is a very dangerous thing; highly addictive. They consider us "spiritual porn" - all because we started to think for ourselves and not be controlled by a bunch of old farts in cheap Sears suits. I wish they would shut the **** up.
