Then apparently I'm going to sweat so much I need a few showers, then on the third day I can drive around admiring all the buildings and trying to work out where they filmed the TV series

Dallas is a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit here.

North Texas is some ugly land. It's flat, few trees mostly scrub oak, and that's about it. Price we pay for this land being the ocean bottom a few million years ago I guess. Now there are some nice places in Texas (the Hill country, Austin, far west Texas). I think that's why we shop so much. The JFK Exhibit is excellent though, if you're into that subject.

South Fork is about 2 miles from our house (23 miles northeast of downtown Dallas) in a tiny town called Parker.

Just printing this off to read again on the plane in a weeks time after the Weston Super Mare BBQ here in England (and the world cup final on the 9th) - it's getting close now!!! Again, thanks for all the advice. Some I can do, some is just too far from my route but thanks anyway. Will keep you posted.
