I didn't notice this was an old bumped thread until I was partway through reading it. Amazingly it applies today even more than ever.
There are always going to be some who are easily whipped up into urgency for a time through a CO talk or assembly part but the ranks of those just going through the motions is HUGE. It's like many are just keeping a toe in the organizational waters just in case Armageddon comes but the rest of their lives go on relatively normally. Then you have your true-believing loons who think the end is sooooooo sooooon and have thought so for decades.
