Bought a Laptop a few years ago for about $2,000 US. Also a few years ago bought a Yamaha Motif 6 keyboard for about $1600 US.
Sold both, miss the Yamaha terribly.

How about paying thousands of dollars for a vacation and getting nothing of substance in return except for some memories and a few pictures?
Other than the basic needs like a house and car, the next expensive thing which was a "want" item was probably a 16x9 widescreen - probably the priciest item in the whole house.

Solo or joint?
Joint it would be the house Ex#3 and I bought. $11,000 down incl closing costs. Total sale price $111,000
Solo would be the $22,000 I paid back to Kevan for his support and owsies over 4 years while I was working on getting SSD.
Next, it would be my pickup: $3400 down
Worst was $2,500 for a dry hole in the ground... drilling for water on property ex#1 and I owned. 250 feet of gravel and basalt.... no water.
Someone elses money? The house Kevan bought in Hawaii. Down and closing was taken out of home equity line of credit on his condo.

Jourles, to me vacations are a necessity! But Kevan and I have VW taste. We love to go to Mexico or Hawaii or... but not bother with the high end stuff. Gimme a rooftop room in a house on a small bay in a small village in Mexico for $25 a night and I'm happy! So what if I have to drink bottled water.

I've bought more expensive stuff for others, but the most expensive thing I ever bought for me was my r/c helicopter, $350.
Considering the time I've spent playing with it, it works out to about $70/hr.
HAHAHA, that's quite an expense, huh?
I am very cheap and buy everything second hand. I don't own anything of value other than my computer which I basically got for free, it just needed some work..
The most money I have spent would be on plane tickets. I once made 10 flights overseas from Europe to America and back in one year. That wiped my savings right out.
