I'm So Disgusted................

I'm absolutely DISGUSTED as what the GB members are letting go on inside the Organization with regards to pedophiles, but I guess it shouldn't come as any great surprise after all the other crap they've pulled over the years.

One can only assume that their sheer arrogance and/or stupidity in their "we can't do anything without two witnesses" policy, is a sign that they're either possessed or they're all getting collective Alzheimers disease.......it's ridiculous to pretend that child abuse doesn't go on in the congregations - it goes on in every single religious organization on earth, simply because you have imperfect people in every single religious organization on earth.

If child molesters within the congregation were pursued with the same gusto and enthusiasm as those that buy lottery tickets or question doctrines, they'd be doing something. One can only assume that none of the Governing Body members have any children (thank god!) or they'd never come up with such a stupid policy. What planet are these guys on???

Here's a little something that happened in my congregation a few years ago: An elders wife was accused of child abuse. Not sexual abuse, but simply treating a 3-year old child that she was babysitting like a piece of crap. This was witnessed by SIX other sisters at a private luncheon. Finally, one of them (a "spiritually weak person") told the mother of the child what had happened at the luncheon and oh my god, the fight was on..........because it was an elder's wife that was being accussed, that was bad enough in the other elder's eyes, but because it was a SPIRITUALLY WEAK person who dared speak out, that was a million times worse and they went after her like a lion after his prey. They tried downplaying it, they told her she should have "come to the elders to express any concern she might have" instead of telling the child's mother about it, they threatened her that what she was doing was "heresay" and "gossip" and the other sisters who witnessed the scene at the luncheon were basically all a bunch of pathetic little wimps because they ALL recanted their stories when pressured to by the elders (some of these women were also elders' wives)............nothing ever happened to this sister for child abuse but the "spiritually weak" sister who brought it out in the open was (as still is) treated like an apostate......

Surely this is another fine indication that Jehovah is NOT blessing this Organization!!!

I truely hope that Bethel gets sued left right and center over all these abuse cases - they've been sooooooo used to unquestioning loyalty and obedience no matter how many lives they ruin in the process, that they need to be FORCED to make some changes. People aren't nearly as brainwashed as we used to be. We have the Internet and they can't control what we read anymore, which of course is the scariest thing for people obsessed with mind-control like these guys.

Sadly, the "weak" is a tag used for those that think out-of-the-box.

Mary your first post was right on the money. Welcome to the board. I remember my first post, it was a whiney little sniveling thing. But most here really helped me a lot. Jump back in anytime.

the other sisters all "recanted" their stories..............it's called conspiracy to silence witnesses.

that's why it's so hard to prosecute jw abusers,....... the elders have free reign to threaten and silence any witnesses who dare come forward.

that's what the gov body did to ray franz......... i think they disfellowshipped about 1/4 of bethel to shut everyone up that knew what was really going on.

Like the others said, Mary, great post and welcome. "I'm So Disgusted" is a perfect subject line for what you described. Would somebody just please FIRE ALL ELDERS EVERYWHERE. They all sound like they are messed up in the head. I mean, WHY would a person go to the elder BEFORE telling the parent (mother) if you saw a child being abused? The parent is the one who should always be told. These "poor" people have their thinking-caps on backwards, but I guess that was the training in the brain they've gotten for too long.

I only had one experience with my best-JW girlfriend when I was in. For some reason she got irked at me (I think her husband was jealous of us yakking on the phone all the time, and he put the pressure on her). So I went to her, wrote letters to her asking what was the problem? When they didnt' respond, THEN I asked elders "what should I do? I don't think I did anything to offend them..." Elder was nice and said I did what I should, and that's all I could do. That's the only time I ever asked advice from an elder, but it was AFTER I already approached the person.

For about two months I've been reading online just about every day. I would sometimes wonder if I wasn't just looking for "excuses" not to have to "go back," i.e., find "justification" in all the horror stories, so then I wouldn't have to "feel guilty" if I never "make it back" to the org. But when I read an incident like you describe, I really CAN feel/see/understand/believe that this is EXACTLY how things "go down" in a cong. The dynamics, I do believe, are hard-set-in-place for just such a scenario, especially the "weak" sister being BLAMED for it all, which really makes me even madder.

    Best greetings to all.
    GRITS

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome and for your encouraging words..............I blame the men at the top for all the nonsense going on in the congregations far more than I do the elders. They generally just do as their told and lets face it, most elders are Yes Men and blindly follow whatever direction they're given from the Faithless and Destructive Slave Class (if they don't, they won't be an elder for very long).....................the main problem in the Organization is that as long as people believe that these men down in Brooklyn are appointed by Jehovah himself, then everything else that happens can be explained away.

Failed Prophecies? Well, Jehovah lets the "light get brighter and brighter"
Higher Education? Don't you know that "knowledge puffs up?" Shame on you for wanting to better yourself!!
Abused as a Child? Well, you better hope and pray it wasn't an elder that abused you, or you'll find yourself in front of a Judicial Committee for spreading lies and gossip. Wait on Jehovah, as He'll bring it out in His own good time - presumably, He'll come straight down from heaven with a flaming sword and stick it up the pedophile's a55.......

I had a conversation with an elder's wife on New Year's Eve. She was talking about about being fearful of getting pregnant again as she doens't really want any more kids (she's got 2 already). She can't take The Pill, or a Diaphram for health reasons, so they're just using condoms. The conversation turned to getting fixed and she immediately quoted the garble about how we "can't do that" because it shows gross disrespect for Jehovah's gift of procreation. DUH!!!! I told her that I give them another 2 or 3 years and they'll change their policy on this, and quite frankly, it's none of their damn business if you get fixed or not. (I find this a really bizarre policy of the GB, because they're always telling you not to have children "this close to the end of This System of Things").

She became very uncomfortable when I said "do you really think Jehovah is guiding them to tell you this? And if they change their policy down the road, isn't that PROOF that Jehovah wasn't guiding them?"

That, of course is "apostacy", to question anything they say or do..............what a twit; I hope she get's prego and six months down the road, have the policy changed (giggle).

Here is a bill that needs as many supporters as possible. It could make a considerable difference in regards to many of the silents lambs who have been victims of this type of abuse.
