Strange Experience on Train - JW Related

We were on our way into Wollongong last night to see our youngest son in the Annual Schools Choral Thingo and went to sit down near a pile of abandoned newspapers (the best way to get a free paper ) Amongst it all was a Watchtower. When I checked it out, it was a March, 1989 'Tower, in mint condition. I was wondering what the Dub who must have left it was thinking - after all, the KM I've got up on my site says, in the article Show Appreciation for Theocratic Resources: "Avoid leaving it (the literature) in public areas where it will simply get strewn about. To avoid waste, take inventory of what you have on hand at home before obtaining more literature." It seems our Dub was not aware of the KM directives. They'd left literature lying around on a train where any old apostate could "strew" it about. However, they were obviously in line with the command to take stock and use up any stockpile of old literature.

When we were about to get off the train, we found another Watchtower, dated February, 1989. This one had the publisher's name on the top. Obviously she was following this advice: "Do you make it a point to write your name and address in your personal copies of the publications?" Our Dub obviously did. Not only was her name on it, but it is all neatly underlined.

So is this Dub a good Dub, or is she "running ahead of Jeehoever (tm)"? Comments?

Also, since I have this lady's name, she may be in the phone book - any thoughts on an ensuing conversation?

Ozziepost: NB! It is not my intention to ring up this lady and harrass her - this is a hypothetical!

I was just about to recommend ringing her up and harassing her, but then I read the ending of your post.

Why not write her a note, telling her that you had been praying for guidance, when your glance fell on her magazine? You then devoured the material eagerly, and would like her to call for a study. Then give her the phone number of a sex phone line.

Or, you could call her and claim to be an Islamic extremist (do they call themselves extremists?), and if she doesn't renounce her beliefs, you will start a jihad.

    An interesting thread.

Whenever I come across anything left behind that has a persons private information on it, I often wonder if I'm supposed to contact them. Of course, that depends on the item found. If it were something that I know they'd miss, I'd certainly try to return it.

Things happen for a reason, and obviously you have given this some thought. If you could locate her address somehow, you could opt to let her know that you are free from the JW bondage now, and it is great. Let her know about the sites on the net that help JW's who are having lots of questions. Bring up the major issues of late, SilentLambs, the UN, the blood issue, and perk her mind to think about these things. She may be a very nice person, who is just needing a bit of a nudge.

Well, just my thought. You never know.

Please do contact her! Perhaps she has a copy of the Jan. 1, 1989 Watchtower. I have been looking of a copy of that for my collection.

Both responses are good (Running Man's cracked me up and Sentinel's is a good example of the "nice" approach). There's a problem, however. Looked up the white pages for both the Wollongong and Sydney areas and can't find anything remotely like her surname. I've scanned and posted it here:

Can anyone make any sense of the surname?

And, Ozzie, it's still a hypothetical: my curiosity has been aroused, that's all!

Well, the signature's there - if you can work out her name, you can go to www.whitepages.com.au and try and find her to ask her for a copy of the Jan 1 'Tower. Imagine how she'd feel getting a call from an interested person from the US about the magazine she left on a train somewhere between Sydney and Wollongong! Do you think her testimony will make it to the back of a Watchtower? LOL

My guess, too, Been there. There is no such name in the phone book. However, IIRC correctly, some European languages have different endings for the male and female versions of the same surname - perhaps this is what's happening here...

One Moschonas comes up. They're in the Southern Tablelands. Do you know them, Ozzie?

Stephanus: I would hunt her down...and when she is found, I would tell her that she should be ashamed of herself....everyone knows 'new light' makes 1989 mags obsolete!! Shameful I tell ya.
