Hello to all. Here are all the notes I took for the Circuit Assembly this past weekend. Much is what we are used to hearing, but I felt it was worth it for everybody to know.

    ------------------------------------------

    Circuit Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses
    Program 2005-2006

    Theme:
Clothe Yourselves With the New Personality -Col 3:10

    Saturday Morning:

10:00 – The New Personality Makes Us Different.

Took no notes on this one. Was the new DO introducing himself, cracking jokes, ect. Made a few comments about the program. It was then on to the:

    10:15 – Theocratic Ministry School

Same as everybody elses. Of course the talks where much more “refined” than what you usually hear at the hall. Nothing Amazing.

We sang a song, and then moved on to a strange little talk called:

11:10 – Increasing our Share in the Marking Work

A talk, based somewhat upon Ezekiel 9:1-4. This scripture is talking about the anointed. All signs show that the preaching work is going at full speed and not slowing down. The anionted remnant are active. People are responding. For more info on the marking work look to the September 88 Watchtower (can't remember the issue) page 15. Col 3:23, we need to increase our share. We may not be saved if we arn't preaching (not their words of course, but it was implied). 2 Tim 2:15. Here is strange thought that was made “No matter how large and important the religions of this world appear, they are not qualified to give a door step study in the require brochure. (WTF????). We need to qualify to be marked.

    11:35 – Dedication and Baptism

Good time to take a nap, day dream, ect.

    Afternoon

    1:35 – Expierances

I'm guessing the instructions said to have people that used the “good news” booklet. You could tell the brother had some troubble finding people.

1:45 – Symposium: Manifesting Aspects of the New Personality

Part 1: By Proving What One's Own Work Is.

Didn't take any notes expect this quote “Jehovah dignifies us with assigments in the organization”

Part 2: Within the Family Arrangement

here's a crazy quote. “Would Jesus yell and scream at the Bride Class to preach the good news? No! he lovingly has assisted them”

Part 3: With Loyal, Whole Souled Support of the Congregation

7 Ways we can support the congregation: 1. Fulfill assigments in the School and Service meeting. Don't skip out on them 2. Support the decisions of the Elders. Sad to say some have said after a decision “there is no way i'm going to do that”. We don't want to be that way. 3. Cleaning the Kingdom hall and assemblies 4. Report Field service regularly and on time. 5. Attend the full program at conventions. Some skip friday and now even saturday and have only been showing up for Sunday. Don't do this. 6. Contributions to the world wide work, assemblies, ect. 7. Express kindness and compassion to those who are old and weak.

Personally I thought this list was absurd.

Part 4: In the Field Ministry

Because a bad impression is already in the minds of many regarding Jehovah's Witnesses, we must create a “new” impression. People mostly only know us from 2nd hand sources.

    Song

2:55 – Discipline Yourself to Meditate Properly.

Discipline is something we should all want. We need spiritual conversation. People in the world don't have discipline. 3 Points. 1. Meditation draws us closer to Jehovah. We have to think. People in territory know some about the Bible but they don't really know. We need DEEP medition. When we read personalize the account. Picture yourself there. 2. New Personality, it will change us. Refine ourselves 3. Meditation helps us to comment at meetings. Not word for word out of the paragraph.

They really stressed hard in this talk about how we need to visualise the account in the Bible. I feel they stress this more than critical thinking and REAL STUDY because they don't want anybody actually getting any ideas. They tell them just to visualise the account, keep their study simple.

    Last talk

3:25 Education That Molds the New Personality

Isaiah 64:8 Some of us before we were JW's went to college, it seemed logical. Did that education make us a better person? NO! Compare Jan 8 1987 Awake, with a coment from a reader in Aug 22 87. College is a waste. College dosn't help our personality. These places don't have a spiritual atmosphere. Binge drinking, sex, parties. Evolution is taught there! These institutions fail. Paul “best educated of his time”. Gods word, meetings help shape us. Great quote “Jehovahs Organization is an educational Organization”. We have special schools, Pio Service School, Gilead, MTS. You may be wondering “what about me, i can't go to those”. We have the meetings every week. We must not think “I know better than Gods Organization” or “I've got it right”. Be humble, work for Jehovah. Jehovah trains us.

Well thats day one. When i have time later i will post day two.

    My thoughts:

I never realized how much these assemblies are simply a rally for believers. You almost never really learn anything. Instead there is a “us vs. them” mentality that they promote. Everybody is there to simply get excited about being a Jehovah's Witnesses. Gosh!

End of Saturday. Do you have what it takes to hear about sunday? I'll be back later.

Thanks for the work there Drew, it's a no brainer. One thing I especially DONT miss are these idiotic waste of time events.

Thanks for those notes Drew. It must have been painful sitting through all that tedium.

New personality makes us different? Is “different” a virtue? They keep drilling into the minds of the rank-and-file that they’re not normal!

Increasing our share in the marking work? I thought that was “marketing”.

New personality = WORKING for Jehovah and his organization. It’s not really about personality, it’s about obedience, loyalty.

New personality in the family? Too many JW’s act righteous at the Kingdom Hall and drop all pretense at home – they are unkind and nasty when out of sight of the other JW’s whom they try to impress. I always thought right works should have started with a good home life.

New personality = supporting the congregation? Where in the Bible is THAT? Turning in field service time reports is part of a new personality? Give me a break! The only point in that whole list that made sense was kindness to the old and weak ones.

Discipline yourself to mediatate properly: If JW’s actually meditated on the flip-flopping doctrines and the endless calls to obedience and loyalty, they’d realize their religion is in deep trouble.

Good to compare notes! Went to mine in December. I always felt they were more like amway conventions. Really trying to sell something and trying to get others to sell it for them.

A sales rally for a secular company starts off telling employees why this is a great company to work for.
Then goes to the reason for the meeting, that is . . . to achieve more market share. Here's the outline.
    Reinforce loyalty to the company.
Review past goals and evaluate performance.
Set out future expectations for employees performance,
Demonstrate how to achieve more market share.
    Identify a model.
Remind employees of rewards such as salary and bonuses.
Close with more reinforcing loyalty to the company.

If this one mornings-worth is supposed to get the audience geared up for more, it doesn't seem to have the impetus I'd think it would need to do so! I haven't attended one in over six years and they are all just the same rehashed ideas that were "presented as new" when I was a JW. (sigh)

Yes...I DO think that the talk should have been titled the MARKETING work rather than the marking work. (And the stats do NOT support the blather about "their increase" either.)

I am sure that the slaves will be "encouraged" to DO MORE in the preaching work, many times before this "spiritual banquet" is over, as they trudge back to their homes once again, coming from this Pep Rally to bolster them up and reinforce more false hopes.

I am SO glad to be out from under their controlling BS!

"Because a bad impression is already in the minds of many regarding Jehovah's Witnesses, we must create a “new” impression. People mostly only know us from 2nd hand sources."

Is it the internet where people are getting "2nd hand" info about the JWs which leads to bad impression of them? I believe it is. The internet is saving lots of people from the JWs.

That is absurd. I think the only thing they're clothing themselves with is the emperor's new clothes!

Would Jesus yell and scream at the Bride Class to preach the good news?

I dunno.....how would Jesus feel about taking 10 breaks to the donut shop? Would he feel like yelling then?

Hi Drew, Thanks for taking the time to type this up. I missed Day 1, but obviously didn't miss much. More college bashing. Yawn. Then this stupid stuff:

How many of these have scriptural support? Did they forget about helping widows and orphans?
