Page 93 of the 1991 "Flock Book" discusses the treatment of victims of sexual abuse. It states that elders should always do what they reasonably can to protect children from further abuse; follow the Society's direction on such matters. Isn't that somewhat of an oxymoron? How can those 2 statements be even used in the same sentence?

The "book-holder" went on to make this note in the margin:

What about victims of abuse as children who now ask for help? Help them to look at matters from Jehovah's standpoint. It was not their fault. Don't dwell on bad thoughts. Constant rehashing of past abuses has a disparaging effect. No reason to discuss with others, or "group therapy".

Hasn't this elder ever been to a JC meeting? They rehash every filthy detail humanly imaginable, and dish out some of the most traumatic "group therapy" known to man!

Who made them psychological/ psychiatric experts to say whether or not someone needs group therapy?

When elders go to those special Kingdom Misery schools, they study these books.

Whatever is written in the margins was dictated to them by the Society's representative. In that way the Society cannot be technically held responsible for those "special instructions" because it wasn't in the copyrighted material.

    Sly.

The elder who wrote that stuff in the margin was probably only being a drone, writing down stuff he was told to write.

said to help them get Jehovah's viewpoint...

how can they do that, what scriptures are they going to show, show the ones on how Jesus loved children, who protective he was of them,,,,,,,that would only put another nail in their coffin.

They cant show any scripture to condon their views, only that you should be forgiving, turn the other check, stay close to the congregation.

    Just appallling.

This particular elder may have been writing down his own thoughts, or may have been dictating what a particular Circuit Overseer was saying. Some C.O.s can be quite dogmatic is dictating certain views they expect to be followed, yet are not necesarilly sanctioned by the Society. Sometimes the friends (and elders) aren't quite sure if certain rules or statements are official organizational policy, or the particular whims of the traveling overseers. So, they have two levels of Talmuds to deal with: the established Talmud that officially comes from Brooklyn, and the floating Talmuds that come in the form of Circuit Overseer's hot air.
