Fresh from the Sep 1, 2004 Watchtower ?Beware of the Voice of Strangers?. Typed as published although highlights are mine. (The pictures are from the same with comments added.)

    Paragraphs 14 and 15
Although some news reports about Jehovah?s Witnesses are fair, at times the media let themselves be used to broadcast the biased voice of strangers. For instance, in one country a news report falsely stated that the Witnesses supported Hitler?s regime during World War II. In another one, a report accused Witnesses of vandalizing churches. In several countries the media accused Witnesses of refusing to give medical treatment to their children and also of deliberately condoning serious sins committed by fellow believers. (Matthew 10:22) Even so, sincere people who know us personally recognize that such accusations are false.

What should we do if we are confronted with accusations spread by the voice of such strangers? We do well to take to heart the counsel of Proverbs 14:15: ?Anyone inexperienced put faith in every word, but the shrewd one considers his steps.? It is unwise to believe everything presented as truth in the media. While we certainly do not distrust all secular information, we do recognize that ?the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.? ? 1 John 5:19

    Paragraph 18

What does knowing Jehovah?s voice further involve? Besides hearing, it involves obeying. Note again Isaiah 30:21. God?s Word declares: ?This is the way.? Yes, through a study of the Bible, we hear Jehovah?s directions. Next he commands: ?Walk in it.? Jehovah wants us to act on what we hear. Thus, by applying what we learn, we show that we have not simply heard Jehovah?s voice but also listened to it. (Deuteronomy 28:1) Obeying Jehovah?s voice also means obeying Jesus? voice, for Jehovah himself told us to do so. (Matthew 17:5) What does Jesus, the Fine Shepherd, tell us to do? He teaches us to make disciples and to trust ?the faithful and discreet slave.? (Matthew 24:45; 28:18-20) Obeying his voice means our eternal life. ? Acts 3:23.

THis is a dumb article I gotta read it in person. Anyone notices every other sentance conflicts with the last or its self, and that the accusattions the watchtower denies are not the exact ones they were accused of. They also declare individual cases as institutionalized group activity. So you have to go from proving that one case to proving all JWs engage the activity.

Although some news reports about Jehovah?s Witnesses are fair, at times the media let themselves be used to broadcast the biased voice of strangers.

So some news reports are fair others are biased? Hmm..... Wow glad they let us know.

Note they did not say the claims are false they say "sincere people" think they are false. THis writing is really half A*ed

the media accused Witnesses of refusing to give medical treatment to their children

Yes, when the correct answer is that the Witnesses refuse to allow medical professionals to give medical treatment to their children.

When it suits them they are proud of the fact - witness the magazine showing kids that have died as a result of not being given blood and it being *a good thing*

The media in this case ... is their own !

For instance, in one country a news report falsely stated that the Witnesses supported Hitler?s regime during World War II.

Actually what they're stating here is correct!!
The dirty part of it is this: a news report falsely stated that the Witnesses supported Hitler?s regime during World War II.

Notice where it says "during" World War II.

This shows me a gross dishonesty. They don't say how they viewed the Nazis "before" the war.

This is part of a letter that Rutherford wrote to the German Empire before WW 2.

In the declaration of facts, Rutherford wrote:

The present government of Germany has declared emphatically against Big Business oppressors and in opposition to the wrongful religious influence in the political affairs of the nation. Such is exactly our position:...Instead of being against the principles advocated by the government of Germany, we stand squarely for such principles and point out that Jehovah God through Christ Jesus will bring about the full realization of these principles... [emphasis ours] 8

Hitler declined and did not want to collaborate. The WT made a complete 180 degree turn and stood with the Allies.
Therefore they can say that "during WW II" a news report falsely stated that the Witnesses supported Hitler?s regime during World War II.

This imo is a fallacy. the Red Herring. In order to get the public away from the statement they made "before" WW II"
they focus the attention on the time after they made the flip.

    Dirty imo.

This WT reaks of Red Herrings. I had to put a clothespin on my nose when I read this WT in order not to pass out
    form the stench.

?Although some news reports about Jehovah?s Witnesses are fair,?

?It is unwise to believe everything presented as truth in the media.?

?While we certainly do not distrust all secular information,?

?What should we do if we are confronted with accusations??

Believe - To exercise belief in; to credit upon the authority or testimony of another; to be persuaded of the truth of, upon evidence furnished by reasons, arguments, and deductions of the mind, or by circumstances other than personal knowledge; to regard or accept as true; to place confidence in; to think; to consider; as, to believe a person, a statement, or a doctrine.

Distrust - To feel absence of trust in; not to confide in or rely upon; to deem of questionable sufficiency or reality; to doubt; to be suspicious of; to mistrust.

Accusation - The act of accusing or charging with a crime or with a lighter offense.

So? they make the leap from news and media reports ? to people making ?accusations?. Aren?t these separate issues?

I wish there were a psychologist available to analyze these words? they are hopping all over the place. All within a space of a couple of paragraphs.

They first start out by telling the average JW that there are some news reports that are ?fair? ? which implies that some may be true.

Then they go and say to the average JW ?don?t believe everything?. (Which reports should they believe? They neglect to mention those. Keep 'em confused - and doubting everything - just to make sure.)

Going on to say that they should not ?distrust? all information? (which bits should they ?trust?? It's safer to distrust _all_...)

Finally saying that they may be confronted with ?accusations?. (so, if someone confronts them with? kudos ? they should trust those?)

    Wow!

By the way? is that a picture of a gal surfin the Internet? Tsk tsk tsk

    Regards,

    Jim TX

I have to say that nonresistance in the case of open aggression against your neighbors is in effect supporting the aggressors. Also the JWs were sought out to perform support services like housekeeping and construction work for the Nazis DURING the war. Himmler loved JWs because they were sheep that could be made to do anything without risk to the Nazis. They willingly complied tho others would have on threat of death refused.
