I Had A Blood Transfusion! Whoopeeeeeee!!

I haven't been on here in years...or many, many months...had just gotten my computer copy of "Armageddon Okies" and got to reading it and then was directed to this forum by another article and so many memories came back of how much this forum helped me as we left the JW's over 10 years ago.

The most significant thing to happen to me was when I had a second back surgery just this past April. My blood count was extremely low because of the blood loss during my 6 hours of surgery and they suggested that I should have a blood transfusion. I didn't even have to think about it...yes...bring it on...hang that little bag of blood up there so I can watch it drip into my veins. Oh the thrill of it all!! I felt better that evening...don't know if it was actually from the blood or the euphoria of doing something so "wicked" as judged by JW's.

It signified to me that at last I was totally free from the hold that the organization had on me for over 4 decades and even after we left.

As I mentioned above, I don't come here very much because it just dredges up so many bad memories of my JW days. I do miss some of the people I met on here and wish them all well...if they happen to remember me.

    Well...gotta go...I think there's a rerun of "True Blood" on...hahahahaha!

Wishing you all love and a hug...mumsy/HadEnuf/Cathy Laszewski

Well I don't know you Kathy, but I love you!! I hope your back is better, all the rest is just gravy. Uhhh or blood I guess. Good for you, and don't let this place bring back memories other than good, powerful, supportive, and sometimes just plain silly.

    Hugs to you!

I faced that when I was a witness..I had lost so much blood and they knew I wouldn't take blood, so they ended up putting 2 IV's in me at the sem time. I guess it was the Ringer's lactate solution. Another time I had my knee operated on. They checked my blood before hand and it was not clotting. They said the Advil I took could have done it. Anyway they gave me a shot of Vit K and an hour later it was fine..so they did the operation.Course I wasn't a witness thn and would have taken blood if it got serious enough. I today would only take i tif it ws a life or death situation.

But the first time I was extremely weak for weeks. I am glad you got to get something that made you feel better..I probably really needed a transfusion then.

Hope your back is all better and welcome back ..

I've heard that my jw mom had to stay in the hospital a week longer than her older non-jw sister did for hip surgery due to lack of a blood transfusion. Due to the weakness and longer hospital stay, her physical therapy was also delayed.

Glad to hear that you're doing well.
