Rob Pollock - Sent to Engineering College by WTS?

  In another topic on the recent education issue of the Watchtower Society, this question came up. Below is what I wrote on that topic. I was wondering if anyone else remembered this?

  Rob Pollock was the Bethelite (sent to college while at Bethel). When we visited Bethel in the 80s, Rob, at the time, was being sent to college for engineering classes by the WTS. We were asked to keep quiet about it, as the Society sending Bethelites to college was considered something the friends in general would not understand, and might resent. I also heard at the time that with his work at Bethel and the schooling, Rob was hardly making any meetings for months at a time.

  Rob went on to become one of the main engineers overseeing the Patterson, NY Bethel project.

  Anyone remember Rob and Cindy Pollock? As far as I know they're still at Bethel.

  I and others that went to my congo were told at Bethel that our Bethel job was our assignment from Jeh and congo matters were not a priority. One of the guys was a truck driver who missed many meetings, he loved his job. I imagine the same double standard was used so as to have the guy attend college.

  I wonder what would happen if the "friends" (gag) found out that the donation $ they earned by doing part time manual labor (so they could pioneer) was used to pay college tuition for another JW. I am pissed about it myself. It is so hypocritical!

  There I was working in a greasy restaurant part time and pioneering, w/o health insurance or enough $ to come close to supporting myself, severely disappointed I wasn't allowed to go to college....and the pennies I donated were used for someone else's tuition!!!! I was told in 1985 there was no way I could possibly finish a bachelor's degree because Armageddon would come within the next 4 yrs.

  Is there any way this can be proven? It would be awesome to be able to prove the WTS paid tuition.

  What a crock! Yes rebel8 I know for a fact that the WTBS power brokers do in fact send some of their own to college.

  My nephew was sent to law school from scratch and is now being sent on world wide assignments by the wtbs legal dept.

  The bastards have no shame, do they?

  Rebel8, you took the words right out of my mouth. Just think about the R&F that are scraping along paycheck to paycheck unable to educate themselves to get a better job because it's against the rules. Well low and behold all of those "donations" they're putitng in the "contribution box" are being used to educate a bethelite. If I was one of those people that put a lot of my hard earned money in those boxes I'd be pissed. Fortunatly for me I got out just as I was begining to earn my living.

  Well, it seems all of a piece. Education is necessary, but only for those who can be trusted with it and only in areas needed by the WTS.
