The Watchtower Attempts to Eliminate Discrepancies in Authority

I began pondering about the reasons why this new light was made and have come to a few theories that may be plausible. My conclusion is that the Society is hell bent on eliminating the discrepancies to their authority.

The Ancient Lineage of the Faithful and Discreet Slave - Eliminated

The Watchtower Society's claim that a Faithful & Discreet Slave Class has always existed throughout history since Pentecost 33 CE has been quite a burden for them to prove historically. The reason why it’s so damning begins with their publications which detail the organization’s history, i.e. “Jehovah’s Witnesses: Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom”. The book (along with several other publications) stressed that Charles Taze Russell began his study of the bible independently and privately without sectarian bias, which allowed him to revive the great spiritual truths that had been long lost. However, the FDS doctrine required all JW’s to believe that an unbroken slave class channel had always existed, feeding each succeeding generation.

Why I think it was eliminated.

Upon critical examination of both the doctrine and the WT’s history, we find that they contradict each other. If there was a 1900 year old slave class, why didn’t Russell and his associates feel they could go to it or receive the great spiritual food which the passage of the centuries should have brought? Why did Russell have to study the bible independently and privately to revive these great truths if the FDS existed prior to Russell’s time? Obviously, this particular aspect of the doctrine didn’t support Russell’s journey and historically the WTS could not prove an unbroken channel of true Christianity over the centuries. So the governing body eliminated it and moved the birth of the FDS to 1919.

We Were Cleansed in 1919 - Eliminated

This new light where the FDS is still progressively being cleansed is well thought out. It helps defend many of the criticisms which show their continued babylonish practices during and after their supposed cleansing in 1919. It also gives them better immunity among the R&F when/if they crap the bed with current interpretations, predictions, or negative PR moments.

Why I think it was eliminated.

This new teaching takes away some core arguments made against their authority during the years. If you go back and review the food and faith that Jesus approved of during the judgment window of 1918-1919, you will find that the Bible Students were in absolute biblical darkness. Their ridiculous interpretations of the bible along with preaching a nationwide gospel of false prophecy until 1925 are detrimental to their authority. The reasons for their appointment is clearly evidenced in the publication titled: God’s Kingdom of a Thousand Years Has Approached!” (Page 350)

“The serving of food, the right sort of food, at the proper time was the issue. It had to be according to this that a decision must be rendered by the returned master. –Not only was the regularity in serving the spiritual food a problem, but the quality of the food itself was to be considered. In this respect the body of hated, persecuted Christians, who always sought to be faithful slaves of Jesus Christ, met the test.”

Any JW who reads, The Finished Mystery, Rutherford’s principle talk and printed book, “Millions Now Living will Never Die!”, or Russell’s volumes of "Studies in the Scriptures” would wonder why Christ would have picked out this admittedly error plagued source of information as THE example of faithfulness and wisdom, as the only ones passing the test and choosing them as the sole channel to send guidance to all mankind. Because many (including myself) have left the organization when conducting the very same inspection Jesus made, the Society has buckled down and shored up the doctrine by eliminating their “cleansed” status and making it indefinite.

They can disregard the arguments made about their hypocritical unclean practices during and after 1919. They now can easily dismiss all the evidence against their appointment by hypothetically saying….

”Look Brother Apostate, new light shows that we have always been in a progressive cleansing, so never mind all that false prophecy or false authority talk during our 1919 inspection! Jesus still loves us! By the power invested in me from the teachings of the great Pyramid of Giza and the 1925 false prophecy, I hereby disfellowship you for apostasy.”

They can make that change to solve that problem, but then they have created another problem in its place.

They teach that people can not understand the Bible without an organization and the slave feeding them spiritual truth. But the new narrative would mean that Christians were able to understand the Bible without the slave for some 1800 years! In fact, they were able to understand it well enough to pass the 1919 inspection. So with an 1800 year track record of understanding the Bible without the slave, why follow after the claims of these men who are not known to me?

They can't have it both ways.

Are they actually trying to rewrite the parable to suggest the domestics fed themselves while the master was away? If so, then what did the FWS do to deserve rewarding upon the master's return?

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It seems they're completely ignoring the parable by saying that NO ONE was feeding the domestics WHILE the master was away (from 33CE to 1919 CE), although the parable clearly says the appointed slave (FWS) was given the RESPONSIBILITY to feed the domestics WHILE the master was away, and would be rewarded for his faithful service of acting as a good custodian of the master's possessions.

No matter how they spin this there is still a major problem:-

The date 1919 relies on 1918 and 1918 relies on 1914 and 1914 relies on 607 BCE.

As every man and his dog are aware 607 BCE is the WRONG date to start any calculation.

@King Solomon, great analysis! I wonder how they will defend that in the coming publications.

@St George, I thought the same thing. Also, by rejecting Russell as part of the Faithful Slave Class, then shouldn't his 1914 calcuation be suspect then?

King Solomon has nailed the key problem. It is no longer the arrogance of the borg identifying themselves as teh f&ds its the violence they have now done to the text. It makes no possible sense.

Just as well for them JWs only read the bible as isolated verses.

They keep lying, and have to make up a new lie each time they are caught to cover for it. This has gone on for so long that they are caught in a huge web of their lies.

That was precisely the same point I was making too. The appointment occurs when the master goes away, not when he comes back. This ongoing cleansing bit is contrary to the whole parable. When the master is away, the slave could either be faithful or wicked. If the slave is faithful when the master comes back, then the master promotes the slave over all his belongings. Fait accompli. Isn't it anymore obvious how this whole imposed '1914 parousia' and '1918 coming to the temple' thing conflicts with the basic narrative structure of the parable? The parable is simple, it isn't anything like this convoluted mess. It makes me wonder when was the last time the GB has ever read the parable.

The questions ask themselves: In what sense did Jesus leave, or go away, in 1918? (When the Society has long claimed the opposite) How the heck is the Society going to interpret the Parable of the Talents, which has exactly the same narrative structure, or are they gonna sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist? What about the evil slave? How can the Society truly claim securely to be the faithful slave when the 'return of the master' (according to the parable one's identity as the faithful or wicked slave depends on one's conduct AT THE TIME THE MASTER RETURNS, i.e. in OUR FUTURE) doesn't happen until the Great Tribulation?

The masses will probably gobble up the new 'food' but those who can think for themselves and who care about what the Bible says will find this really hard to swallow.
