"People are theists or atheists for a variety of different reasons - good and bad, rational and irrational. But when I took the time to talk to atheists, I realized that most of them were atheists because they wanted to believe in reality. They cared about the truth and would rather believe the truth, however difficult, than a delusion, however easy.

After talking to my fellow christians I realized that we weren't behaving like people who cared about the truth. I decided that the truth was something worth knowing, went looking for it, and pretty soon became an atheist myself.

Nobody can (or should pretend) to tell you what to believe. But I do encourage you to genuinely look for reality."

I completely agree with this. When I was discovering that my one and only true faith/religion wasn't what it appeared to be I did exactly this. I wanted to go to the beginning and find out the truth, not only of the JW faith, but of all faith. And this is where it's led me.

Yet another excellent video ! If we can get believers to watch this, at least they will begin to appreciate that , as seekers after truth, who care as to whether what we believe is actually true, we do not have a choice.

They often use the expression ".........have chosen not to believe in god, or have chosen to believe Evolution "

If something is shown, by testable evidence, to be true, we have to believe it.

And so, we do not believe in God.

Aye, it's the only thing left that drives one past the detritus.

The verbal commentary is a bit annoying though, so like what I hate.

Truth is a process, not a reaction to programming.

There is no such thing as "Truth" as it relates to Religion. It is an incorrect usage of the word, the the WBT Religion are chronic abusers of that word. Truth is something concrete, irrefutable, demonstrable to any reasonable person. Religions cannot make that claim. Nothing that religion claims to touch, the nature of man, the nature of God, where we came from, where we are going etc,,,, is provable. It is all a matter of relative opinion.

It is tantamount to argueing about someones favorite color. Instead of the question about truth, each of us should care and pursue that which actually makes sense to us as people.
