The GB will not write or make a move without consulting "LEGAL". So, legal actually wrote the letter concerning the book study change, however, GB. signed it, actually, rubber stamped it.

my husband got cornered at the store yesterday by a jw, trying to reinfect him with the doom and gloom outlook, using the catch phrases like "urgency" and "stream of time"..... this fellow made the comment that in his 37 yrs as a jw, only twice has he seen the gb as the direct author of a letter that was directed to the r&f.
does anyone recall if the letter re: the new bs arrangement was directly from the gb?
( i did try going back thru the threads but holy caca, there were myriads upon myriads!).

may you all have peace!
i am compelled to repost this subject due to the current discussion on the board.
again, what i share with you here is truthful - honest, without deceit, and it is what i 'received' from my lord, the son of god, jaheshua mischajah.
If the Bible is not the word of God, as you put it, then why Should I accept what it tells?

i used to love reading the aid/insight books.. questions from readers was always something i read first when i got my watchtower.. i even liked the truth book because it was pretty detailed in jw beliefs and was an easy read.. was there any publication from the society that you enjoyed reading?
?.
Back in 1969 I enjoyed "Things In Which It Is Impossible For God To Lie!" It came in the pocket and large editon sizes. Chapter three dealt with the complete Bible. I use to carry the small pocket size with me and read through it daily. This is the book that hooked me. Then came "The Blue Bomb" the Truth book, and I was caught, hook ,line and sinker.

Many feel compelled to either believe or disbelieve all information they come in contact with and quickly pass a judgment on everything accordingly. Such a process leaves little room for actual knowledge and shows no particular interest in truth.
For these individuals, pseudo-knowledge is good enough, especially if it happens to reduce anxiety and be widely accepted. This approach to information is unfortunate and produces a tendency to jump to conclusions based upon erroneous feel good assumptions.
In 1969 when the witnesses first knocked on my door, the belief trap began for me and I fell into the two paragraphs written above. And so the captive of a concept that involved a belief system tied into the teaching "You can live forever on a paradise earth!" Trapped me and my family for over 33 years.
We are all free from that belief trap now. And are trying not to fall for any other belief traps that may come our way.

Our own intellect could trick us into believing comfortable conclusions that are designed to reduce our anxiety, reassure our ego, and maintain our current self-satifying worldview.

Whenever we feel that we are reasonably certain that we are correct even though we have to real data to back us up, we should at least consider the possibility that we may be stuck in our own belief trap.

Most of us are awash with beliefs of all sorts. We are steeped in the common sense and prevailing wisdom of our culture, traditions, communities, profession, family, and friends. Belief is very personal for each of us. Most of have deeply held and ingrained ways of thinking and being.
Beliefs may be cultural, religious, scientific, or personal. If we know for sure that belief is not required, in that case we have real knowledge.
Knowledge is different from belief. Knowledge is derived from knowing what is true. If our apparent knowledge is false, we only believe that we know. In this situation, belief is masquerading as knowledge. Belief posing as knowledge is pseudo-knowledge, not real knowledge.
Have you ever wondered how other people can come to the strangest conclusions about all manner of things? Could it be because we get caught up in our own very personal beliefs and not real knowledge about all manner of things.
I believe that some of us get caught in our own belief traps, yours truly included. How do we escape this trap?
Just thinking, but, what do I know? I only know that I don't know. I certaintly am open-minded to other possibilities.
