Does this make me a terrible person

my wife has a friend at her kh.

she is 37 and her friend is 88. i know it sounds kind of strange but they are both the wives of ubm so they kind of stick together.

my wife is very sincere in this friendship and this lady is a nice person.

I think you really needed to get this off your chest, and you are not a terrible person.

And yes, I've lost my inheritance because of the WTS. It was hard to swallow, for reasons of personal circumstance, but good to talk about it. That just hurts inside, and needs to be let out - it's not about the money, so much as what it says about how much your parents care about your future and welfare - especially if you did not get an education because of the 1975 thing. AND if *you* were the good son.. yup, it hurts a lot. I get it.

So, yeah, you had a thought, and now you can let it go. We often act out our deepest pain on other situations. It was a brave thing to ask that question in a public forum, but ya know what?

I think you got to the real issue, which is feelings about the way you were treated by your own family. Understand.

Born Ins Vs Converts

did you ever feel like born ins were looked at differently than those that were converted?

i always felt that there was a level of suspicion around those "raised in the truth".

that we were always suspected of being jws to make our family happy.

I was never faced with that because of being the "shining example" (as my mother said after my fall from grace).

But that makes sense - the JW world is all shiny and new to the converts! They weren't forced to go door-to-door as a child. "Pausing and Punctuatoin" at the TMS is still a learning experience for them. They don't miss Xmas and birthdays that much, because they had that as a child.

Hey, be proud that you are not brainwashed. It's to your credit that you grew up JW, and never really put on the cloak of the cult personality.

the jehovah's witnesses church in australia is the latest religious group to come to the attention of the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.. the child sex abuse royal commission will hold a public hearing into controversial christian group the jehovah's witnesses, next month.. the inquiry, to be held in sydney, will hear from people who were allegedly sexually abused within the jehovah's witnesses church in australia.. it will examine how the jehovah's witnesses church and its company, the watchtower bible and tract society of australia, responded to claims of child sexual abuse within the organisation.. a victorian inquiry into how churches handle child sex abuse claims has previously taken submissions from former jehovah's witnesses who alleged instances of paedophilia, sexual assault, blackmail and death threats.. the organisation has 64,000 active "disciples" in australia but has also been described as a cult.. jehovah's witnesses believe their church is the one true religion and all others are wrong.

10 years and Satan finally struck....

i left around a decade ago, life has not been easy, but it has been profoundly better than the jw robotics my earlier life chapters resembled.. my current life was going so well, too well...... and finally the nemesis of jahooha came out from his dark hiding place.

no longer in gods tent i was as vulnerable as the chinese job and his unfortunate sheep and children.. satan, bless his socks of cotton, has finally attacked, he broke my leg the dark lordy bastard.. a spiral fracture of the fibula and various fractures the ankle joint.. the worst of all his evil doings was the story i have to tell people, it's 'mechanism of injury'..... i slipped on some grass.

yes the devilish ball rash, got me good.. so now, i sit bored, wishing i had meetings to prepare for, talks to write and i long for the live bombing i would have received as an interesting new kingdom hall event in the decades of waiting on jahooha..... but all i have is some lame ass, american apostates on a forum..... tchhhh.... .

Has anyone had a jw hack into their email/tablet/phone etc to spy?

i note stillin has had a recent problem with this.

i also know of two cases were an elder went through a brothers phone to get dirt on him.

and another were a sisters email was hacked into to get dirt on her.. in both cases apparently it was for their spiritual protection (!

hoser, that does not surprise me. As EE would say, SMDH Sad but true.

There was a guy here who the elders suspected of adultery (they were right), and they stalked him for a long time, literally sitting in cars 24-7. watching his house, and following him until he was finally caught. My parents told me about it, not realizing how it looked through my eyes. Umm, that's not only wrong (ie, none of their business), but it's illegal.

I guess it must come under the heading of "Theocratic Warfare"TM, so in these cases, it's okay to 'break Caesar's Law'. *puke*

since the day pope francis told catholics to stop obsessing about abortion and gay marriage, and get to the business of helping the poor, i have been afraid for his life.. in one statement, he pierced 2 sacred cows of catholic and evangelical thought, and he has not stopped.. he has lectured the world on real evils, mentioning capitalism in particular as a system that has left billions in desperate poverty.. he has now said that global warming threatens the world, particularly the poor, and is calling on the world to change it's lifestyle to save the planet.. i can't remember ever, in my entire life, when someone in as powerful a position as the pope, actually speaks out loud and in public the actual truth of the world's environment and calling the world to action, without regard for the consequences.. hard line catholics don't like him; fox news hates him, one pundit telling him to leave science to the scientists (of course, fox news doesn't leave global warming to the scientists) and today this from greg gutfield, fox news:.

"the most dangerous person on the planet is someone who is seeking strange new respect from their adversaries.

and that is what the pope is doing, said gutfeld, implying that the recognition of the existence of man-made climate change is fundamentally at odds with catholicism.

The Church needed a good PR Pope. Seriously, folks, it's the Vatican. One guy doesn't come in, snap his fingers, and change policy. Also, do a bit of background investigation online, or search the threads here, before you decide you like him.

When the story was first published in the UK (Guardian or Independent?), we did a bit of a writing campaign here on the forum. A bunch of us spent a day or so writing in to the comments section of the newspaper...... it was wild! Folks from here, commenting, with JWS denying and scrambling to cover up the heinous nature of disfellowshipping.

I checked, and the comments are no longer available for reading, which is really too bad.

I have to say that GB and Australia are far ahead of Canada, and the US, in their investigations and condemnation of the Jehovah's Witnesses cult.

well, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.

in normal society this wouldn't happen.

i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.

This story is from 2011.

At the time, we had a big push on the forum ........ and quite a few of us wrote in to the comments section of the original newspaper that had the story (was it The Guardian or the Independent? It was in England). We spent an intense 48 hours or so, answering people's questions regarding JWS and shunning, and refuting the JWS who commented on the story.

The comments are no longer there to be read, but wow, what an anti-Witness we gave! :D "Worldly" people ARE interested in the JWS - the average person is shocked, when the reality of the WTS policies is exposed in the mainstream media.

I'd like to see more group efforts like this - exJWs offering constructive criticisms on JW youtube vids or newspaper articles, and refuting JW claims in a logical fashion.
