Ever since I was a little girl I always wished it wasn't the truth, but believed it was. I had my first doubt when I was twelve in 1995-the generation change, but like most Witnesses with doubts I ignored them and only focused on what made sense and seemed right. I'm still in, but my mind is out.

How long did it take for you to realize it wasn't the truth?
by freedom96 inso many of us, so many reasons we left or were kicked out.
from that point, how long did it take for you to not feel guilty about things and realize that the wts is not the "truth" as they always claim and that they have no say in whatever happens to us later.. for me, it was a slow fade.
not so much because i was determind to leave it; it was basically laziness in that regard.

I hear a lot of people talk about the chronology of the Gentile Times, but what was the purpose of it to begin with? Why couldn't God have destroyed the world right after the ransom sacrifice of Jesus? To prove Satan wrong? To prove we can't live without him? It takes 4,000 years to prove a point? Ok God. We get it. We're nothing without you. Now let's get this show on the road. What I find most disturbing is that according to the bible he's only proven that we can't make it without him as imperfect human beings. How would we have turned out if left perfect? It all seems so silly, overdramatic, and pointless to me. Not to mention that Bible Scholars and Christian Theologians say that followers of Jesus believed the end of the world was very near! If only they knew 4,000 years later we'd still be hear!

To Those Who Believe That GOD Exists - Prove It!

Creationists seem to only focus on questions that the bible can answer, but rarely do they ever ask the questions the bible cannot answer and never will. I'm not saying for a 100% certainity there is no God, but there are too many loose ends, too many things that don't add up to just simply believe in something because a black book says you should.
I'm neither creationist, atheist, nor evolutionist. I'm an IDK. That's right, an I don't knower. Everyone else would do well to follow my lead. : )
Sorry about the multi-post. The forum won't allow me to submit posts that are too long. : (

I believe that if they had not sinned we all would still be living in a perfect world and the whole earth a garden. Thats not a JW belief either that is what I get as an understanding from scripture..
Why did God not kill Satan the instant he turned bad? How would he have tested Adam and Eve if Satan hadn't turned against him? Would he have tested them at all? What would have happened if only Eve ate the fruit and not Adam? We'd be half imperfect, half perfect? Didn't God know what his creation would do before even creating it? Why are aggressive animals such as alligators and lions equipped and made for killing weaker prey (e.g sharp teeth) if they were intended to live together in peace? Why do they kill at all? Did the sin passed on to us apply to them to? How could that be when they're not offspring of Adam and Eve? Why did God create dinosaur and then kill them off? Never did understand that one.

From my own experience when I am away from God my life is not happy, I am without inner peace with myself and with others. But when I put God into my life I find a feeling of goodness and happiness inside. So what is it then that does that to me if there is not a God.?
I would liken that to the placebo effect, when a person is given a sugar pill instead of the real deal. They claim to feel better after taking this pill, but in actuality the medicine that they think has cured them doesn't even exist within their bodies. It's a figment of their imagination. The cure only exists within their minds. It has been proven that people with optimism heal better than those without it. Your happiness comes from a belief, not God's power. Don't mean to offend, just one of my many strong convictions.

Now take it easy on me fellas, but how can anyone look around them , look at the universe, all the beautiful trees and plants, flowers water, beautiful people, Everything around us and say that there is not a creating God ?
How can you look at all the pain and suffering and think that he actually cares? Maybe there is a creator, but it's clear to me he or she is being held hostage or either dead. God may even be the evil one. And all this time we thought it was the devil?!?!? Satan help us!!!!!!

Quote from the "How old were you when you got baptized?" thread.
From reading most of the ages listed here, it sounds like the overwhelming majority were "raised" in the troof. That is probably still the majority of the ones getting baptized these days. I often wonder how many are baptized who are found from the preaching work.
This made me think of the increase of number in the memorial attendance each year. It goes from 6 million to about 15 million. Are not the majority of these people the children of baptized witnesses who are not included in the 6 million? How many are actually newer ones who don't regularly attend meetings?

I was 18. I had doubts, but they were pushed too far in the back of my mind to prevent me from getting baptized. I regret it every single day of my life.
