Memorial Attendance

Quote from the "How old were you when you got baptized?" thread.

From reading most of the ages listed here, it sounds like the overwhelming majority were "raised" in the troof. That is probably still the majority of the ones getting baptized these days. I often wonder how many are baptized who are found from the preaching work.

This made me think of the increase of number in the memorial attendance each year. It goes from 6 million to about 15 million. Are not the majority of these people the children of baptized witnesses who are not included in the 6 million? How many are actually newer ones who don't regularly attend meetings?

The memorial attracts many that usually would not come to the regular meetings. Inactive ones, disfellowshipped ones, family members, neighbors. Generally these come at the insistence of the jwdub or because they feel this is a sacred night. You wont see these individuals at any other meetings during the year.

Wanna exit is right. Of course, the non-baptized jw kids don't count in the figures, though they are counted into meeting attendance on a regular basis. So overall, the number for Memorial attendance gets inflated by the folks waanaexit mentions, plus non-baptized jw kids, including babies and todlers who have no clue as to what's happening.
