ATMs in assembly halls

i only heard about these atms last year on this forum.

the poster seemed to be saying they are for donating only, is that correct?

absolutely gobsmacked over this, don't the brothers see any correlation between this and the likes of jimmy swaggart?

Here in the Netherlands we are discouraged in shops to pay with cash and electronic payment with bankcards is encouraged. So nowadays people dont use/have much cash on hand , simply because they dont need it and its more secure if you dont have any (they cant steal what you dont have)

So its only logical that at assemblies and conventions donating with bankcards is an option. Its secure, fast and simple and everybody has a bankcard with them.

furthermore there is no difference between a box for donations or an atm machine,.. its just the modern equivalent.

how much would a well-off witness be expected to donate?

my wife has just withdrawn a few hundred pounds from her account and refuses to tell me why so i suspect she plans to donate it as she hasn't donated for a while because she knows i don't want our money going to the organisation.

is it likely that she is feeling under pressure to make a large donation?.

@frazzled i dont know anyone who is pressured or guilted to give anything. Giving money does not lead to eternal life or to be forgiven for sins. People who love Jehovah and who think they belong to His organisation and who think that they are supporting the 'good cause' by making voluntary contributions love to give if they have enough resources to do so.

I want my donations back!

i want to ask wt for my donations back.

i live in canada and i have income tax receipts from them so i can prove how much i gave them.... anybody ever tried something like that or heard about somebody doing it?

what approach should i take?.

whatever... you all sound like Don Quixote s fighting the watchtower windmills. It wont do anything, you all waste your time day in .. day out... year in .. year out with talking about it, being frustrated. And all there is to conclude after each year is that your 'problem' did not go away but instead of that .. it grew bigger year after year and will continue to do so.

Anyway, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that no one is asking for money, dont feel that they are pressured to give. They know that no one knows if they gave anything or not. They are the ones who know since they live the life of a witness.

But still those Don Quixote s like you believe otherwise. I cant change that.. and i dont feel the need to do so.

Now back to the topic of this thread... i see a lot of Donate... Donate .. Donate more! We need it now! mumbo jumbo on the url that is given to pay someone who can answer email.

Come on guys... help your friend out,.. donate!

@Outlaw as a matter a fact i help organising them. Also at assemblies/conventions no person is asked for money on a individual basis. No collection plate is passed around. If someone would like to contribute its possible. That happens anonymous. No one knows who gave what or when... or if anyone gave anything or not.

So is it possible to run an organisation on air or water ? No ... unfortunately is is not. Money is needed, bills are there to be paid. So on an assembly a few short statements are made about the possibilities to contribute and where/how people can if they like. Not more not less.

What would the Watchtower Society do...?

when the economy collapses, and it will, worse than 2008, far worse.... ...what would the watchtower society do if a large group of homeless jw's starting camping out at wakhill, new york, perhaps in a large 'tent city'?.

We witnesses help eachother out. So there never would be any tent city. There would always be brothers and sisters in a better situation left in the country and they would help those in need.
