they had websites since 1996 and also produced a Watchtower Library cd-rom year after year for the witnesses... so its obvious that computers and internet were widely used accepted.
According to yesterdays study watchtower,.. A car is not dangerous unless you use it in a dangerous way. Computers are very useful machines

The stats are positive. but i did not expect them to be different. We were already told how many baptisms there were every weekend. Personally i think that numbers will increase a bit more and the growth percentages will become slightly higher the coming years. The reason is that there will come more JW Noise... the volume level will go up quite a bit over the next 2-3 years (new initiatives like carts, vans and trucks, stands and an increase of printed literature from 600 languages to 1000 languages before sept 2014).
Furthermore often it is said (for about 10 years now) that internet would mean the beginning of the end for Jehovah's Witnesses. But even in internet penetrated countries they remain stable or even show a small growth percentage,.. the prophesized crumbling because of internet isnt going to happen. On the contrary i think the emphasize on their newly launched (sept 2012) website and other initiatives to spread the word will actually help more people to get on the wagon.
you know like the standard bethelite does that hold no corporation title like the higher ups do?.
i wonder what one of their tax forms would look like?

for years, it was drummed into our heads that the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one who hates us and a result, mankind particularly hates the jws with a passion.. now that i think about it, i've seen very little evidence of that.
i mean yes, in places like malawi, germany and some other countries the witnesses have been through real persecution - not the type that the average dub would call it like doors being slammed in the face.
but what have they experienced that many other religions in other countries haven't?

just received a fs visit - first for several months.
an attractive 'yummy mummy' with (what seemed to me) a strained smile and a very young girl (presumably her daughter) about 9 or 10.. the weather was attrocious, i was distracted, and i failed completely to make any comment or to challenge.

@Adamah ofcourse they are just imperfect ordinary men like any other. If even the apostles, who were inspired and got revelations and visions, made mistakes and expected God's day any minute (2000 yrs ago) i do not see why we should make a big fuss about some overenthousiastic men that did not get any direct revelations and visions.
But again i am not here to discuss the members of the GB. I just stated in my first post that, without a doubt, Armageddon would come some day.

@Oubliette Members of the governing body are just men like me , i make mistakes everyday and they are no exeption. 2000 years ago the first christians had the idea that God's day could come any minute. Since we are still here 2000 years later its obvious that it took a while more and still does. Did that disqualify the apostles and bible writers? Maybe you think so and certain christians in their time did too and walked away from the faith.
But up till this day every christian denomination that base their beliefs on the bible think Armageddon will occur so thats not something unique.
Anyway i am not here on this forum to discuss the governing body or our teachings. To do that you have plenty of other people who like to jump in on this forum.

@Alphaman the 'Peace and Security' prophecy is mentioned often.
For example the study watchtower of November 2013 (which will be studied next january 2014) contains an article called How Can We Maintain “a Waiting Attitude”? and it speaks about the prophecy.
do we really need an organization and need to be in subjection to it as god always chose leaders (abhraham, moses, jesus, apostles)?
what are your thoughts?
how can you reason this out?.
I dont think you get any useful answers on this board when it comes to questions like this. But studying the bible and meditation and prayer about this subject might give you the right insight
