Are we seeing the beginning of the end for Kingdom Halls?
by nicolaou inafter all, "at this time, over 13,000 kingdom hall projects and 35 assembly hall projects are needed worldwide.".
hmmm, not too sure about that but all the recent re-branding seems to be heading .
could this be the long game?

I keep hearing about 'big changes coming soon'. Wonder what the GB has up their sleeve. Maybe they won't require coats & ties for men and dresses for women. They already look ridiculous Going door to door in those silly dress clothes.

How to cope with depression?
by make yourself ini know its very common for jws and ex jws to deal with depression.
maybe it's a side effect of cognitive dissonance or the whole outlook on life being a jw.
but what are some ways to cope with depression?

First and foremost, see your doctor and maybe a counselor or psychologist. Do this first and from there do some of the other things mentioned above.....light therapy, probiotics, better diet, exercise, etc.

what to do when you have a crazy friend?
by losingit init's hard for me to start this topic bc i feel like i'm being judgmental, a quality i don't like in others and one i try to stay away from as much as possible.
i really do try to be an understanding, caring person.
i essentially believe that all people are good and i am shocked to my core when i am betrayed.

If you stay in that so-called friendship for even a day longer, then you are as much of a mental basket-case as Hannah. Sounds like the sole basis of your relationship is that you both crave drama. You just do it vicariously thru her.

The last year I attended a Special Talk, it was the most boring talk I ever heard. And all the JWs constantly flipping thru their Bibles looking up scriptures. How would a curious outsider feel if they happened to attend?? That has got to be a major turnoff to any reasonably 'normal' person. The fact that the JWs are totally oblivious to this is really hilarious.

Visited Baptist church on Easter
by snakeface ini live in a rural area; in field service we had to drive from house to house.. i have not had any desire to visit any church for several years now.
saturday i was doing chores in my yard - washing the car, etc.
- and 2 ladies drove in, dressed like witnesses would be dressed.

I have attended Unitarian services several times. Very refreshing. Not really Christian in the sense that they respect all spiritual traditions. Every week is a different topic, often with interesting speakers giving a wide range of viewpoints. They don't stress dogma or expect you to 'believe' anything that is said. Nobody will pressure you to join. Anyway, the Unitarians are just about the exact opposite of the Witnesses. If convenient, give them a try.

What cracks me up is how some folks pray to God to help their team win a sporting event. As if God cares which team wins and can actually 'cause' the team to win. Kind of like when Tim Tebow would make a touchdown in football and then kneel, bow his head and point to the sky. Really???? Give me a break!!!! Meanwhile the prayers of terminal cancer victims go unneeded. Famines kill millions. Criminals kill and/or rape thousands of innocent people every week. God seems to have a very strange way of answering prayers.

Scientific basis for the belief that prayer helps!
by exWTslave indear reader, millions of americans believe prayer works.
yet the mainstream media tends to avoid the subject altogether.but our mind health report team at newsmax health wanted answers to questions like these:can modern science explain prayer?does praying strengthen your brain and prevent mental decline?what benefits, if any, does prayer offer you physically, mentally, and emotionally?to this end, the team went out to the scientific and medical community to learn the potential benefits of prayer and what they found both surprised and excited all of us here at the mind health report.the results were so startling, in fact, we created a free video presentation to share with you exactly what we discovered.when you watch this free video, youll discover how prayer actually changes four distinct areas of your brain.
in fact, youll see exactly how prayer or other spiritual practices increase activity in the areas of your brain that are most helpful to you, and diminish activity in areas that are less helpful or even harmful.youll also see:how a specific amount of prayer time per day can help prevent memory loss, mental decline, and even dementia or alzheimers .

Does 'God' really listen to the mumbled prayers of millions of people? Some praying for a new fancy car or for their favorite football team to win. There is no one 'listening' but a subtle shift in consciousness explains the perceived benefits. Same as meditating. But if a person needs to believe that a deity is sitting up in 'Heaven' listening to everyone's prayers, who am I to criticize??? Whatever helps people feel better is OK with me.
